Having produced our animated COVID video, Booster Troop: The Attack of Miss Information, our goals with the Force of July were to show that we could take our cartoon video series and pivot it from COVID into mental health. We also wanted to play with song/music as a tool in our mental health videos, activating reinforceable messages that would stick through repetition. We also wanted to show hospitals and providers how our characters could be repurposed for Mental Health content and how we could intersperse shorter, less expensive content with our longer comedy animation episodes. Concurrently, we wanted to show schools and potential health partners how unique our original mental health content is. As a Black, Brown, and Women-founded (doctor-founded too!) company, representation matters, and helping kids see themselves in mental health materials is important. With no real marketing support, we have 6K views, and kids have told us they feel they can “take on the world” after watching the video. The Force of July, which cost $7,500 to produce, has been essential in helping the company go from $[REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] before Booster Troop to what we project will be a [REDACTED FOR PUBLICATION] year for us.
