NCSL's State Legislatures Magazine Summit 2023 issue served as a program and more for the 5,000 attendees of NCSL's 2023 Legislative Summit, the nation's largest gathering of state legislators and staff from around the country. The issue was designed to inform and entertain, including features on restaurants and attractions the local political people love, profiles of Indiana's legislative leaders, stories on the Indiana Dunes and the battle over the state's time zones, as well as a look at a day in the life of two freshman California lawmakers and a back-of-the-book trivia quiz on 50 state (plus territories). The cover, created by a local artist, and was made into a poster as a free keepsake for Summit participants. The magazine was distributed at the four-day meeting, where attendees were observed reading it between sessions and at meals. The communications team received many positive comments about the how useful and engaging the content was.
