Currently serving as Finance Lead - Business Partnership within Amazon's North American Central Cost organization, she brings a rare combination of financial expertise and emotional intelligence to complex operational challenges. In her current role at Amazon, Catherine leads end-to-end fixed cost management across the company's vast fulfillment network throughout North America. She oversees strategic financial planning and analysis across multiple business units, including Customer Fulfilment, Logistics, and specialized operations. After relocating from South Africa to the United States two and a half years ago, she has quickly established herself as a transformative leader, implementing innovative solutions that enhance financial transparency and operational efficiency. Working closely with senior leadership, she guides critical decision-making processes while fostering cross-functional collaboration across the organization's complex operational landscape. Her customer-obsessed approach and strategic thinking have led to significant improvements in fixed cost management, where she guides a team of finance professionals who partner with field finance leaders to drive strategic cost optimization initiatives.
Prior to Amazon, Catherine served as Vice President of Finance & Subsidiaries at Isuzu Motors South Africa, where she led one of the most significant transitions in the region's automotive industry. Her leadership of General Motors exit from South Africa and transition to Isuzu showcased her ability to navigate complex corporate transformations while preserving thousands of jobs and dealer businesses. During this period, she demonstrated remarkable versatility by managing both finance and IT functions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her finance journey began at General Motors South Africa in 2004, where she distinguished herself through increasingly critical roles. As Pricing, Investment and Forward Program Coordinator, she managed diverse portfolios across global markets, establishing herself as an elite finance leader through her exceptional technical capabilities and strategic insights.
Throughout her career, Catherine has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to developing others and fostering inclusive workplace cultures. She serves as a facilitator for Amazon's Women's Leadership Program and combines her passion for mentorship with community impact, serving as a mentor for Unity in Africa Foundation and Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Community Chest Port Elizabeth. A graduate of Rhodes University, Catherine holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with majors in Accounting, Management, and Economics, as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.
