Cisco’s annual sales kick-off, IMPACT, brings together the top global Cisco sellers & employees at the beginning of each fiscal year to celebrate prior year’s achievements, receive updates on key corporate strategies, and immerse themselves in the training and networking that will enable them to exceed their sales goals for the upcoming year. The overall strategic approach of the Cisco IMPACT team is to deliver their message to the entire sales force, increase seller confidence, effectiveness and engagement in order to increase customer satisfaction.
Usually, this program sees 20,000 global attendees gather in Las Vegas for a three-day event, but with a focus on employee safety the team made the decision to host IMPACT in a digital format for the second year in row. The team embraced learnings from the 2020 event, to ensure they continue to move the needle with employees.
Each platform component was designed to provide seamless learning, networking and celebratory experiences, ensuring uniquely personal experiences for each attendee, across 100 countries and 3 GEO territories. The 2-day agenda delivered a “follow the sun” format, allowing the team to deliver the program globally around the clock for Day 1 – repeated again for the Day 2 experience. This meant that the team was essentially in live broadcast production mode for over 72 hours straight!
Attendees were able to connect with each other using Chat and could engage with subject experts in live Q&A. Sessions were delivered in live, simu-live and on-demand formats, while interactive Demos and Workshops provided more hands-on training. With a large and diverse audience, it was critical for the attendees to consume the content in formats most aligned to their personal learning style.
Playing on the competitive spirit of sellers, attendees earned points for platform engagement, including session attendance, completing quizzes and surveys, networking, and sending congratulatory “virtual high-fives” to sales achievement winners. Points were tracked in a global leaderboard where attendees could rank their performance against peers.
Finally, to bring a personal tone to the global event, attendees were encouraged to provide an anecdote from the past year via Shared Stories. Attendees submitted a personal or professional highlight, customized with a photo or short video. These were uploaded and shared in an interactive gallery, bringing a sense of global connection and achievement to the experience.
Ultimately, the combination of a rich content portfolio, live keynote presentations, competition-based engagement, and meaningful recognition created a winning experience.
