According to the 2016 media and entertainment industry report from PricewaterhouseCoopers, film may get the attention but publishing tops revenues, at $62 billion in the U.S., outstripping film two to one – and hitting $100 billion globally. And so it goes that Cindy Childress, CEO of Childress Business Communication, launched her company shortly thereafter as a pioneering hybrid providing book-writing excellence; the compassion to get you through it without the usual stress; and the business savvy to make sure your book sells. That rare child whose favorite activity was homework, Childress immediately stood out for her focus on entrepreneurs like herself. “The right book beats every form of business marketing, period, no exception.” After launching with large in-house teams of writers and editors, Childress quickly discovered that she was a lone genius: that rarity who can write impeccably; listen to you empathetically; and let you have the credit as she – “Ghostwriter-In-Chief” - does the work for you. Then she compassionately helps your business book hit bestseller lists - for 10 months at time. This in a business where the norm is "publishing mills" that create any book you want for $10,00-plus. Who cares if it sells?

  4. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the organization's achievements since the beginning of 2020 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 244 words used.

2020 on was a remarkable time for Childress Business Communication, none more so than during Covid-19 when Childress had her biggest month ever thanks to the popularity of book-writing as millions the world-over were in lockdown. An expert in social media, Childress took to Instagram and offered her first Zoom MasterClass aimed at business owners; some using a book to create one.  And so they signed up – in droves - from Japan to Europe to Los Angeles. Women all - many using books to create businesses in the first place. Then Childress offered an expensive add-on: a VIP Service where, in addition to the MasterClass itself, Childress reads your manuscript, chapter by rough chapter. The “droves” continued, no matter the cost. Then Childress, via a new website, went full-on comprehensive offering clients what they need to succeed, none more so than a brilliantly conceived “elevator pitch.” As Childress says, “Most CEOs can’t describe their businesses, causing what I know is serious damage to the bottom line.” As for Ghostwriting and co-writing books, Childress worked on many from the popular self-help book “The Logical Law Of Attraction” to a timely tome on college admissions aimed at moms; and the likes of an African American author who knew Childress alone could capture her “Caribbean voice.” Real estate and financial books hit the Amazon bestseller lists. Revenues went up 30%; newsletter subscriptions 300%. A percentage of all 2020 sales went to underserved entrepreneurs.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 249 words used.

Childress Business Communication skyrocketed financially during Covid-19 – thanks to a highly talented CEO and a remote team of editors. This company excels in an arm of publishing largely devoid of it. Childress used Instagram during Covid-19 (“that’s where clients are now”) knowing that while in isolation, they would write books and need help doing so. During Covid, Childress offered one-of-a-kind “book rescues” to help clients bring clarity and “purpose” to books already written and tossed aside due to poor sales. The company’s awards-period Amazon bestsellers include “The Money Tree”; “How Good Humans Sell” (debuted #1 in leadership); “Unlock Your Potential”; "Our Silent Voice: Break The Silence." Major media came calling including U.S. News & World Report. The first website powerfully focused on Childress herself debuted. Often described as “iconic”, “stylish” “charming”, Childress has a Ph.D. in English, too. From Australia to Hong Kong, Europe, Canada and Mexico, they saw it and signed up.     As Covid-19 spread, Childress remained highly paid ($25,000-plus minimum per book; there a waiting list) while offering free Getting Started courses and much-needed elevator-pitch assistance to her entrepreneur base.   A longtime supporter of women’s causes, Childress knew Instagram audiences would be largely female - and they'd sign up for MasterClasses, which they did. For them, Childress had a unique warning: avoid “feminine writing”. “Women downplay their work. I teach them otherwise.” And it’s Childress the Stevie Awards chose to host their 2021 webinar on corporate storytelling - to great success.
