Global Disability Inclusion in partnership with Mercer completed a 10 year study collectiong 12M data sets about global employee engagement comparing workplace experiences of those with disabilities compared to those without disabilities. This groundbreaking report, The State of Disability Employee Engagement is the first study of it's kind. The report demonstrates across the 6 common engagement categories of Leadership, Advancement, Opportunity, Equity, Manager and Overall Engagement - there was not one category where employees with disabilities scored more favorably. In fact, many categories showed differences of 10 to 14%. It should be noted that a call to action is a 5% point difference. Additionally, or research found that 90% of companies investigate differences in gender, 75% look at race and ethnicity, but only 4% of companies investigate disability as a diversity segment. This finding alone is troubling since people with disabilities are the world's largest minority group. This led to the creation of Amplify the first Disability Climate and Culture survey that will enable employers to capture information about their workplace practices and how they impact employees with disabilities which is up to 20% of an employee population.

Since, 2020 GDI has been working tireless to finalize the report The State of Disability Employee Engagement. This work included extensive collaboration wiht Mercer (the world's largest HR consulting firm) to review and analyze over 12M data sets, summarize findings and produce this groundbreaking report. Initially the report was set to be published in July 2020 for the 30th anniversary of the ADA, but given the global pandemic and businesses focused on sustaining operations, we waited until April 2021 to publish the report. During this time in 2020, GDI and Mercer worked to complete Amplify, the first ever Disability Climate and Culture Survey. The survey will enable companies to obtain information from their employees with disabilities about their workplace experiences. The creation of Amplify provides businesses with a tool to gather information about their largest diversity population within their companies, people with disabilities. The survey asks questions around disability disclosure, leadership support, safety in the workplace, workplace accommodations, accessibility, opportunity for advancement and if diability is part of the organizations larger diversity efforts. While the disability industry has several assessment tools (Benchmarkability, The Tracker and The Disability Equality Index), these tools review organizational polcies, programs and procedures and are a self reported evaluation. The game changer with Amplify is that companies are assessing organizational policies, programs, procedures and practices and how they impact their employee population. The survey enables companies to capture data from their existing employee population and begin to identify gaps and opportunities for improving workplace practices and company climate and culture. Global Disability Inclusion has previously been recognized for its innovation as a winner of JP Morgan's Mission Main Street grant. The $100,000 grant from JP Morgan Chase was to expand business services and was awarded to the company is 2015. Only 10 businesses won the award our of 30,000 applications. GDI was the only disability organization to win the award.
