Nomination Title: iPro Healthcare's iOrder V8.4.6.2

The iOrder V8.4.6.2 product update was released on October 1, 2020.

iPro Healthcare's iOrder solution supports the exchange of medical information between hospitals and referring physicians by delivering the knowledge of the hospital to the initial point of patient care with the referring doctor. This improves patient safety and care quality by minimizing incorrect coding and unnecessary procedures, ensuring that an appropriate exam is always ordered. Referring physicians gain confidence in referral decisions; a quick, painless scheduling process; simple avenues for seeking assistance when needed; and timely and consistent patient order/test updates.

iOrder achieves this by creating a single, unified record of each patient order. Everyone involved in the service ordering and delivery process can see every relevant detail of the order in real time. The patient can receive order updates, procedure information, and even directions through Google maps. iOrder’s integrated patient instructions and text/email appointment notifications help hospitals improve patient satisfaction—a key metric for reimbursement under MACRA—and throughput. The HIPAA-compliant tool supports value-based reporting by reinforcing clinical validation of medical necessity and appropriate use criteria (AUC), supporting compliance with Meaningful Use and qualified Clinical Decision Support Mechanism (qCDSM) requirements.

By offering referring physicians integrated clinical decision support and a streamlined, transparent means of placing, tracking, and completing ambulatory patient orders, iOrder minimizes mistakes, misunderstandings, lost information, and time-consuming lack of accountable transparency that plague most scheduling systems. This helps hospitals bridge gaps on the front end of the healthcare revenue cycle, stemming revenue leakage associated with lost orders and pre-authorization and pre-certification issues.

iOrder is interoperable with any referring physician’s EMR, with options for order results to be directly routed to the EMR, or the practice can download them from iOrder. iOrder is a web portal that can be installed on the hospital’s IT infrastructure or hosted in the cloud and is accessible via any internet-enabled device including mobile. The simplicity of the solution improves order and scheduling efficiency, reducing the burden of physician stress and burnout.

Customer reception of and satisfaction with iPro Healthcare’s iOrder solution has been overwhelmingly positive. A client Director of Radiology Services relayed the positive impact iOrder has had on staff productivity, noting that the hospital was “having a lot of patients showing up that weren’t being prepped correctly. iOrder has cut down on that almost 100%. Our referring physicians would call and schedule with us but then it would take days before they would send us an order. Orders wouldn’t get faxed to us. The orders were incomplete. We would call and go back and forth to get what we needed. Now we have complete orders. iOrder has taken care of that.”

An Application and Project Manager in another 300-bed hospital stated she researched the market extensively and was unable to find another solution comparable to iOrder. This facility is seeking to reduce Medical Necessity write-off in Radiology, Laboratory, and Surgery, which currently is in excess of $300,000 per month. The client elected to implement iOrder as a replacement solution for two prior disparate platforms plagued by significant downtime.

Vickie Suits, Director of Imaging Services at Alabama-based Cullman Regional Hospital expressed pleasure with the company’s superior customer service, saying “iPro’s referral physician client service has been excellent so we feel we can trust them to talk to our clients.” Suits went on to say “It’s hard to put dollar amounts on things like this; I just know how badly we need it. It will help our bottom line tremendously. I’ve wondered for years ‘how do we not have something that confirms medical necessity before we put an order through?’ People will make mistakes. We needed a system that can make those determinations for us.”

After piloting the solution with luminary sites over an initial incubation period, iPro Healthcare experienced 200% growth in its iOrder customer base in 2020.
