In June 2022, Veritone acquired personalized synthetic voice pioneer VocaliD, giving its Veritone Voice AI-generated voice solution the ability to control and manage the entire voice creation lifecycle for efficiency and scale as well as build individual voices for those who have lost their voice or have a disability.

  4. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Describe the features, functions, and benefits of the nominated product or service (up to 350 words):

Millions of people rely on synthetic speech to communicate every day, while hundreds of millions of people worldwide are visually impaired – including 39 million who are fully blind. These types of physical impediments often preclude individuals from experiencing what much of the rest of the world has access to. Through its Veritone Voice solution, Veritone is expanding content accessibility and inclusivity for these communities in not just an AI voice but AI voice that sounds natural and humanistic.

Veritone Voice is an AI-generated voice solution offering stock, premium voiceover, and hyperreal custom voice clones in multiple languages.  Veritone Voice surpasses boundaries that traditional, human voice cannot – especially for accessibility and inclusivity. Here are two main examples of this:

    ●      Giving a voice to the voiceless – For individuals relying on synthetic speech and assistive devices to communicate, oftentimes they are given a limited set of generic, robotic-sounding voices – like the one used by Stephen Hawking - that sound inauthentic and don’t fit an individual’s body or personality. For example, in many cases a 50-year-old man is using the same synthetic voice as a 6-year-old girl. Veritone Voice, on the other hand, provides a more human-like voice for individuals, which they can use to communicate via their assistive devices. This provides them the opportunity to utilize a unique,  humanlike voice that best fits their personality, age, and gender, and enables them to communicate and engage in conversations more naturally.

    ●      Creating a more immersive, inclusive experience for the visually impaired – With Veritone Voice, producers can use synthetic voice to narrate and provide key visual descriptors in TV shows, movies, theater, and other visual productions to create a more inclusive experience for those who are visually impaired. In addition, using Veritone Voice, publishers can scale audiobook production with voice over. And with the ability to adjust pitch, tone, speed and more, Veritone Voice also makes it easy to create lifelike narration for audiobooks.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Outline the market performance, critical reception, and customer satisfaction with the product or service to date. State monetary or unit sales figures to date, if possible, and how they compare to expectations or past performance. Provide links to laudatory product or service reviews. Include some customer testimonials, if applicable (up to 350 words):

    Total 350 words used.

Veritone understands that voice is a powerful tool, and because of this is keenly focused on ensuring that people’s needs can be met and their voices can be heard.  Supporting both text-to-speech and speech-to-speech, Veritone Voice offers the most advanced synthetic voice models on the market, as well as flexible options for voice creation. Since Veritone Voice offers both custom and stock voices, the solution can meet a wide range of needs. Veritone Voice’s self-serve application has access to over 300 stock voices and over 150 languages that can be customized with text-to-speech technology.

In the case of custom voices, the Veritone Voice managed services team works with the customer – such as a producer, publisher or assistive device manufacturer –  to create the voice. For example, for custom, synthetic voices being used by individuals unable to speak, voice banking is also used. This allows people to “donate” their voice to help others communicate verbally. Veritone Voice then creates a voice that is a unique blend of the end-user’s "vocal DNA" and recordings of a matched speaker from its human voicebank – which today includes more than 90,000 voices – to ultimately deliver a unique voice that fits each individual.

Beyond its applications for those who rely on synthetic voice to communicate and the visually impaired, the innovative Veritone Voice is used in other “Tech for Good” scenarios. For example:

    ●      Overcoming language barriers – Today, great importance is placed on diversity and inclusion in content. Synthetic voice – powered by Veritone Voice – assists brands in diversifying how they connect with people through language, dialect, accent, or even gender.

    ●      Enhancing educational content – Veritone Voice provides a cost-effective way to create more engaging content at scale for courses or employee onboarding and training programs, improving overall attendance, attentiveness, and retention.

    ●      Fostering localization, regionalization – Organizations producing audio with human speech – such as podcast hosts and distributors, TV/film producers and dubbing studios – can leverage Veritone Voice to connect with audiences in multiple languages, accents, and dialects, and with personalized messaging for a more authentic experience.

  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

    Total 189 words used.
