The Scotwork North America blog, Tales from the Table, provides uniquely practical insights for people who negotiate. Our audience obviously includes sales and procurement professionals, but it’s also for project managers, people who manage vendors, anyone who crafts internal agreements, and so many others.
CEO Brian Buck observed a lack of thought leadership specifically for frontline negotiators to help them make their best deals — despite an excess of firms purporting to teach negotiation. Brian created this blog in 2017, and it’s grown from a small readership to tens of thousands of weekly subscribers who rely on its insights and enjoy the humorous original illustrations exclusive to the blog.
Tales from the Table has served as the primary source of Scotwork North America’s social media content since 2022. Since that time, the organization’s LinkedIn followers have increased by more than 65%, and the organic reach of posts on the platform increased by more than 40% from 2022 to 2023. Scotwork North America also posts nearly every business day on Facebook, Instagram, and X but gives special attention to metrics from LinkedIn as a B2B company.
This blog’s innovations extend beyond its content. Not only does it provide information, but it keeps its fingers on the community’s pulse. Themes may guide readers on a genuine journey through its topics, engage them in clarifying the issues that matter most to them, and provide access to practical insights from expert negotiators that address their concerns. Negotiation Mayhem (March 2024) was a theme with posts at the center of an integrated experience. It included social media across all Scotwork North America platforms, landing pages where community members clarified what issues mattered most to them, and a webinar featuring expert insights.
