Troy Nelson is Roth Staffing’s Mr. Remarkable.  Actually, his job title is Business Analyst, but when you plan Friday bowling events for corporate coworkers, are thanked at every Monday Morning Meeting for your selflessness and patience, and go out of your way to aid everyone and anyone, you become more known as “Mr. Remarkable.” 

When the Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst left the company in 2012, Troy quickly assumed the duties of a QA Analyst on top of his existing Business Analyst responsibilities without complaint.  Throughout the last year, he has headed all QA efforts, second level support, report analysis and scoping, Quarterly Business Review (QBR) analysis, and Enterprise Resource Planning support within the company.  As if that weren’t enough, Troy decided to learn structured query language (SQL) in his free time to help the overwhelmed MIS team although he is not a developer.  Despite the fact that even skilled developers struggle to learn SQL because of its complexity and breadth, Troy committed himself to mastering SQL simply because he noticed that the department needed help.  That’s the type of person that Troy is.   

In addition, he studied Crystal Reports and VBA in Microsoft Excel to better assist the report writing team with QBRs.  Troy works with the report writers to gather information necessary to facilitate QBRs with large clients so we can continue to adapt our services to our clients’ needs and wants. Troy saw the opportunity to combine his newfound SQL skills with his knowledge of Excel and Crystal Reports to automate the QBR process for most of our major clients.  He also wrote routines to identify incorrect or missing information before the QBR appointment date in order to fulfill our commitment to quality and create Remarkable Experiences for our clients and coworkers. 

All in all, his innovative thinking and dedication to automating QBR procedures have reduced the overall QBR time each quarter from over a month of analysis to less than a week! 

After recognizing the positive effects of QBR automation, Troy also decided to automate many HR forms and procedures throughout the last year, cutting down on coworker Problem Response Time.  

Because Troy is always willing to do more than his share, it is easy to forget that he was not hired to learn SQL or write reports, but that he chose to do so in order to fulfill our company Promise—“We love to create remarkable experiences… every person, every time.”®  What is even more remarkable about Troy is his ability to not just complete projects on his own but to teach others new skills as well.   His patience and ability to break down complex processes into simple instructions are unparalleled.  For instance, he taught our Business Relationship Manager to utilize reporting programs in order to more efficiently utilize her time.

Throughout the last few years, Troy has been a great champion of our Mission, Vision, Values, Purpose, and Promise.  He has devoted himself to supporting all departments and branch offices and improving efficiencies.  It was no accident that Roth Staffing Companies recognized Troy with the Top Performer award for Most Remarkable Experiences!

Troy Nelson graduated from University of California, Irvine with a B.A. in Economics before working as an Analyst at an econometrics firm for two years.  In 2010, Roth Staffing hired Troy as a Business Analyst, a role that enables him to support the company in meeting its strategic goals through software and systems and business economic logic.  He also helps scope, manage, and support all of Roth Staffing’s coworker and client applications, as well as analyze data and create detailed reporting systems that allow clients to make timely business decisions.  Troy’s helpfulness, quick turnaround time, and technical abilities have earned him the coveted Roth Staffing Top Performer award (and the nickname “Mr. Remarkable”) for creating the most Remarkable Experiences for coworkers and clients.
