Rosendin is an employee-owned electrical contractor that builds commercial and industrial construction projects across America. To serve as a good community partner in regions where its employees live and work, Rosendin developed a nonprofit charity called The Rosendin Foundation in 2020. TRF, as it's known, relies on Rosendin employees to donate and volunteer for events that positively impact communities, empower individuals, and inspire innovation.

In 2023, The Rosendin Foundation launched TRF Camp Build, a transformative program aimed at igniting the joy of building in middle school students and changing their parents' perceptions about the construction industry. TRF Camp Build collects donations from sponsors and enlists volunteers from Rosendin and other companes in the construction industry to teach a free co-ed day camp. This camp is tailored for 6th-8th graders to spend one day or a week with local skilled craft workers and is often the first time they have been introduced to the construction industr. The program provides an immersive, hands-on experience in construction, offering valuable skills and exposing students to a range of career opportunities in the industry.

Under the expert guidance of professionals from Rosendin and other companies, students learn to use hand tools and power tools safely including drills, saws, nail guns, and soldering irons. They don't just watch instructors. Campers use the tools to do a variety of craftwork that includes pouring concrete, woodworking and framing, soldering, pipe bending, electrical wiring, roofing, and painting. They also learn about using VR and Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies to virtually build and estimate as well as heavy equipment operations.

In 2023, TRF Camp Build was held in five cities: Austin, Phoenix, Anaheim, Gallatin, Tennessee, and Sherman, Texas. The first year was such a big success and had so many campers register they are repeating the camp in 2024 in Austin, Phoenix, Anaheim, and Sherman and introducing it to new students in Charlotte. Austin and Phoenix will also introduce a second-year curriculum for returning campers to advance to their next step in advanced construction learning.

These camps are completely free to students. Upon completion of the program, students can take home their projects like a lamp and stepping stone, and they each get a free bag filled with hand tools, courtesy of sponsors. They also build a group project, which is a dog house they will donate to local organizations. Perhaps more importantly is the students are introduced to a potential career option and taught life long skills to problem solve.

The Rosendin Foundation's commitment to education and training is evident in its dedication to inspiring and empowering each student on their journey of discovery and growth. TRF Camp Build also serves as a gateway for middle school students to explore diverse career opportunities aligned with their interests, encouraging a more inclusive and innovative future for the construction industry. It also helps parents see construction differently, so they can understand the full range of careers the growing industry offers.

  4. Optionally, list the appropriate creative and production credits for the nominated event, such as the following: Advertising Agency/City: Client: Art Director: Cinematographer: Creative Director: Designer: Director: Illustrator/City: Music Producer/City: Photographer/City: Printer/City: Producer: Production Company/City: Programmer: Writer: Web Development Firm/City:

TRF Camp build was wildly successful in its first year. 10 to 1 PR secured well over 100 stories in local news, regional business, and national industry publications. This included stories with FOX News and Scripps Broadcasting which ran a story with campers and instructors in several markets.

So far in 2024, 10 to 1 PR has secured over 60 stories alerting the community that registration was open for the summer camp. This included TV news interviews in some of the biggest viewing markets: Los Angeles, Charlotte, and Phoenix. We expect to see even more stories once camp begins this summer.
