The new RICOH fi-8040 is the ideal high-speed document scanner for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) across healthcare, retail, and government. The fi-8040 empowers SMBs to achieve digital transformation, efficiency, and sustainability goals by simplifying workgroup scanning with a compact design, intuitive 4.3-inch touch screen display, and the flexibility of PC-less scanning. The fi-8040 allows users to scan using the same methods they have in the past while also enabling modern and future methods such as advanced network capabilities and easy collaboration with multiple users. While the fi-8040 is designed to be easy to use and requires minimal training to operate, it features several advanced capabilities, including DirectScan functionality that eliminates the need for a PC. Users can scan directly to network folders, FTP/FTPS/SFTP servers, and attach and send scans directly by email without using a PC via a simple and intuitive interface.
Several key improvements in the fi-8040 include increased scanning speeds by nearly 1.5 times compared to its predecessor – up to 40 pages per minute, or 80 image per minute at 200/300 dpi. A new manual feed mode enables users to scan folded documents and a variety of documents without the need for a carrier sheet. Additionally, the new document scanner features Clear Image Capture, which is a dedicated and innovative image correction technology that improves color accuracy and minimizes line distortion, resulting in exceptionally crisp images optimized for Optical Character Recognition (OCR).
The fi-8040 also expanded its networking compatibility support as it works with USB3.2 and wired LAN for connectivity in environments without wireless connections, freeing users from having to stand by a computer when scanning.
