During their time together in the Army, CEO Dr. Frank Tucker and COO Claude Hines helped introduce electronic health records to the battlefield during the Iraq War. As acquisition program managers for the DOD, they discovered that their greatest frustrations came from the inability of IT vendors to understand technology in a clinical environment, greatly affecting the usability of these systems. So, in 2011, MicroHealth was founded to put the health back in health IT.

MicroHealth is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and Small Business Administration 8(a) firm. Our team of 250 solutionists, technologists, and operators partner with agencies to discover better ways to use IT to help make more informed decisions in support of better healthcare outcomes for patients. For example, we help the Army provide medical simulation training for Special Forces to recreate battlefield environments and improve battlefield care. We’re making it easier for DOD and VA providers to search through large amounts of electronic health data and scans to make faster more informed patient care decisions. We’re helping the Department of Health and Human Services make it easier for healthcare providers to buy prescription drugs at steep discounts to assist low-income patients.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):
