Kevin Gorlick, Lumin's chief cloud officer, is a long-established leader in the fintech industry with extensive experience in building and managing application support, site reliability engineering, and IT support teams. Kevin comprehensively understands application support, change management processes, cloud and data center management, enterprise software consulting, software architecture and development, and CI/CD. He is a highly effective leader who always puts his team in a position to be proactive, thereby avoiding mistakes that often arise from last-minute demands.

Kevin and his team are instrumental to Lumin's success — they’ve helped us become the first cloud-native digital banking platform in the market. His early decision to use cloud infrastructure and deploy weekly upgrades has yielded significant time savings for our financial institution partners. "We've built a solid track record of deploying upgrades in a way where clients have complete transparency in the upgrade's contents in advance, they go out well each week, and they learn to trust us like we're part of the same team,” Kevin said. His team is responsible for Lumin's uptime of 99.996%, even though our contracted SLA is only 99.7%.

  4. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this second question: Outline the nominee's achievements since the beginning of 2021 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 73 words used.

    1. In 2022, Kevin and his team achieved 1612 total deployments to our clients, compared to 771 in 2021.

    2. Notably, the average deployment time was also reduced from 30 minutes to 5.4 per deployment in 2021.

    3. Build time is down from an average of 45 minutes in 2021 to 15 minutes in 2022.

    4. Site stand-ups (the actual banking environment of our clients) standard time was reduced from 24 hours to just 10 hours.

  5. If you are providing written answers for your submission, you must provide an answer to this third question: Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the nominee's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 246 words used.

    1. This is a significant development because it showcases that our deployment pipeline was built to be highly scalable and that growing our business did not deter or delay our ability to deploy updates. Additionally, it can be seen that delayed/canceled deployments are a rare event that sets us apart from most competitors. Finally, we have never had a failed deployment or a rollback due to a deployment which also sets us apart in the digital banking industry.

    2. One project we completed now allows us to automate and stabilize deployments. Our team now has additional time to focus in other areas while deployments are happening, enabling us to automate deployments to the point where no one at Lumin Digital is manually performing the deployment. This level of sophisticated automation is not something our competitors can do.

    3. This is a huge cost and productivity improvement for the development team. Builds cost the development team 160 hours per week (equating to four personnel). These changes reduced that number to 30 hours per week, freeing developers' time to add value to Lumin Digital's products, services, and client support.

    4. This is a significant cost and productivity enhancement. For every customer that Lumin Digital onboards, there are two environments to set up. In the past, these environments were set up months ahead of when they were needed, costing SREs time and incurring high AWS (Amazon Web Server) costs. They are now stood up faster, more consistently, and with less issues for clients.

  6. You have the option to answer this final question: Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):
