Nomination Title: Humana's MyHumana Mobile Application

        The MyHumana App leverages features of the phone to deliver resources at your
fingertips that are convenient and easy to use, encouraging consumer
engagement. The MyHumana Mobile App is available for download from the iTunes
store for Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.  It is also available for
download from the Android Market for phones running Google's Android operating
system.

        The intent of the MyHumana app was to satisfy 3 goals:
• Help members manage medical conditions
• Help members manage out of pocket costs
• Offer a tool to provide convenient self-service for members that aligns with
our Perfect Service philosophy

        The app offers the following suite of features which other healthcare insurance
companies do not currently offer: 
• Drug pricing tool
• Pharmacy claims
• Member registration

• Wondered what your out-of-pocket costs for a drug were?
• Wanted to find a cheaper drug alternative while at your doctor’s office?
• Wanted a quick, easy way to check your spending account balance or the status
of a claim?
• Needed to search for an Urgent Care Center or doctor in your network while on
the go?
• Forgot to bring your ID card to the doctor’s office?

        We have an app for all of these!

        Current Features:

        MEMBER INFORMATION: The Mobile Member Information tool shows health-plan member
details on demand, including:
• Member ID number
• Group name
• Group number
• Deductibles
• Co-payments
• Important phone numbers

        SPENDING ACCOUNTS: The Mobile Spending Account Viewer displays recent spending
account activity and current balance details for people using spending
accounts, such as Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) or Flexible Spending Accounts
(FSAs). This can be useful at the point of purchase or service.

        FIND A HEALTHCARE PROVIDER and URGENT CARE FINDER: The Healthcare Provider
Search allows members to use the phone’s built-in GPS feature to find and
locate a nearby urgent care center or in-network provider. Details include:
• Address
• Directions
• Phone numbers
• Provider education
• Specialties
• Affiliations

        MEMBER CLAIMS: The Claims search displays the status of medical and pharmacy
claims and the details associated with each claim.

        DRUG PRICING: This tool shares a member’s out of pocket costs for a drug. 
Members can use it with their doctor to find a lower priced drug alternative or
find the cheapest place to purchase their medicine.

        MyHUMANA REGISTRATION: MyHumana Registration allows members to register for
MyHumana and gives them access to their personal, private and secure
information available on the phone or Humana’s website.

        The MyHumana Mobile App received its first Appy Award in February 2011
for “Best Medical App” during the Online Media, Marketing and Advertising
(OMMA) Global Conference and Expo in San Francisco. The Appy Awards honor the
best mobile, social and web apps in a diverse range of categories. Other award
recipients include Flixter, Urban Spoon and Oprah Magazine. The app was
recognized for helping members access personalized health resources to easily
find health care providers, better track costs and claims, and receive well-
being reminders.

        As the Mobile lead, Julie Kling provides business leadership in the development
and implementation of Humana’s newest communication channel, Mobile Health. She
oversees the development and the vision and scope for Humana’s Mobile Channel.
Julie is positioning Humana as the predominant player in the health industry
and drives the business rules development process to assure that the
translation of vision and scope is achieved. She sets the product roadmap,
gathers requirements, and leads cross-functional teams to monitor strategy,
implementation and operational management. Julie also drives the post
implementation analysis, validation and lessons learned for continued process
improvement.
