The main goal of The Home Depot Backyard is to develop impactful programming that is free for the community to attend, especially the Westside (a historically underserved community located right next to Mercedes-Benz Stadium). The Home Depot Backyard’s longest tenured and most popular community festival, Fall-O-Ween, once again provided a best-in-class experience and safe space for kids to trick-or-treat. We celebrated our fifth year with a record breaking two days (October 28-29, 2022), welcoming over 7,000 people from across the greater Atlanta area. This family-oriented festival was a weekend filled with fun including a hayride, tarot card readers, a kid’s train ride, trunk-or-treating, costume contests, green screen and 360 photo booths, inflatables, food trucks, a screening of The Addams Family 2, and lots and lots of candy.
Across both days of the event there was a “Fun Zone” featuring kid-friendly inflatables and a carnival fun slide to go along with cornhole boards, lawn games, putt-putt stations, and our always popular playground area. Similar to tailgating on gamedays for the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, The Home Depot’s “Built by The Home Depot” attraction was activated in our pavilion during the event and the space also featured several fall-themed photo ops, including a 360-photo booth and a festive greenscreen, for guests to create lasting memories. Additionally, for the first time in the event’s history attendees were entertained with on-site tarot card readers and psychics.
On Friday evening, our center lawn was transformed into a one-of-a-kind outdoor movie screening experience. Attendees VIP picnic areas were set up front and center for giveaway winners. Additionally, a fall-themed hayride, featuring a storyteller sharing tales about Atlanta’s historic Westside, entertained hundreds of children throughout the night.
On Saturday, ten Mercedes-Benz SUVs were staged for a trunk-or-treating like no other while the back half of the backyard featured the Atlanta Falcons combine for guests to practice like a ‘pro’. Like the hayride the previous night, Saturday’s festivities featured a kid’s train ride making rounds in the backyard throughout the duration of the event. The event’s final day also featured music from DJ Michael Blair and costume contests judged by special guests, the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders and mascot Freddie Falcon.
