Kevin Sheehan has guided Hatteras Networks through an incredibly successful
year, as the company continued to lead the expansion of the Mid-Band Ethernet
market segment and successfully demonstrating the relevance of Mid-Band Ethernet
to all types and sizes of carriers from the world’s largest incumbents to small
rural carriers. In addition to dozens of unannounced wins, the company also
secured ten announced customer wins since January 2007. Highlights include:
• A multi-million dollar agreement with XO Communications, which
standardized on Hatteras’ award-winning platforms as the exclusive MBE solution
to be used in its network. XO is currently deploying the Hatteras platform in
60 metropolitan markets, the largest MBE deployment in the world.
• Deployments in Australia and Europe, extending Hatteras’ sales reach to
five continents, including:
o PowerTel, one of the largest telephony operators in Australia
o Demand Broadband, leading provider of Metro Ethernet services in
Australia
o T-Com-Hungary, the incumbent operator in Hungary
o Míla, Iceland's incumbent and largest operator
Under Kevin’s leadership, Hatteras also:
• Announced a key partnership with Cisco to provide an end-to-end
solution. Telekenex, a business-grade IP service provider, is deploying the
combined end-to-end solution from Hatteras Networks and Cisco to support its
Managed Ethernet Service.
• Has partnered with Pan Dacom Direkt GmbH to offer MBE solutions that
support advanced service delivery over the copper network. Pan Dacom Direkt’s
MBE deployments range from large enterprise campus networks to alternative
regional service providers, wholesale operators, military installations and
municipal networks.
• Was awarded TL 9000 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications, the first company
in the industry to be certified by the QuEST Leadership Forum for the design
and marketing of MBE products.
A new marketing campaign spearheaded by Kevin helped Hatteras increase its
global visibility and market momentum and maintained its number one search
engine ranking. The program kicked off with a series of events, webinars and
html invites promoting Mid-Band Ethernet’s ability to help carriers “milk the
copper network for all its worth.” At NXTcomm, Hatteras introduced the “Meet
Your New Cash Cow” theme to articulate the broad potential of Mid-Band Ethernet
in terms of current and future revenue. The campaign drew a tremendous amount
of positive attention and further solidified Hatteras’ industry position as the
Mid-Band Ethernet experts.
Kevin continued to contribute to the industry by speaking at a number of
important industry conferences, including Light Reading’s Ethernet Expos,
NXTcomm and Carrier Ethernet World Congress. He was also personally extended an
invitation to speak at the prestigious Thomas Weisel Telecom conference.
Kevin’s successful management of the company can also be measured by industry
recognition, including an important win for the first annual NXTcomm Eos
awards, as a runner-up for outstanding customer support of XO Communications.
Hatteras was also presented with the prestigious 2007 North American Carrier
Ethernet Entrepreneurial Company of the Year Award from Frost & Sullivan.
