Humanity Reimagined takes a unique look at where we are in an era of innovation that is having the greatest impact on defining what it means to be human since the birth of civilization. The author is a business and community leader who also happens to be a transformation optimist. He wants to see the world and our society as it should be, not merely as it can be just because we are capable of unrelenting and awe-inspiring invention. The core subject of the book is the intensifying convergence of people and technology and what this increasingly symbiotic relationship means for the future of humanity. As people and technology become more closely linked in physical ways—wearable robotics, fitness monitors, implanted medications—we also are converging on an intellectual and psychological level. This is reflected in expanded use of artificial intelligence and machine learning to augment the human capacity to solve problems and make decisions. The book projects that it is hard to overstate the importance of this trend and the challenges it represents for the organizations of today and tomorrow—businesses, governments, educational institutions, and more. And it raises the crucial overarching issue: are we asking all the right questions? Who is refereeing serious developments that have social, economic, and philosophical implications? Are we watching out for both the prosperous and the marginalized? The author raises awareness of the essential questions that need to be asked and encourages our readiness to act to ensure people continue to come first.
