    The newest version of Mentor by eDriving with new Rewards feature was released on January 31, 2023. Mentor was originally launched in 2017.

    So much more than just a driver safety app, MentorSM is a comprehensive, award-winning driver risk management PROGRAM.  It combines our patented Crash-Free Culture® methodology, with a unique smartphone app that not only identifies risky driving behavior, but also remediates it, while supporting drivers and managers with world-class tools and unmatched professional services. And it does so from a secure platform that protects driver privacy every step of the way.  

    How?

    Using sensors found on most iOS and Android smartphones, Mentor collects, scores, and analyzes data on the driving behaviors most predictive of risk. Through eDriving’s partnership with industry analytics leader FICO®, driver performance is converted into an individual FICO® Safe Driving Score, shown by research to predict the likelihood of drivers being involved in a collision – acceleration, braking, cornering, distraction, and speeding. Personalized insights are delivered to drivers after each trip, showing positive and negative driving events and, for the driver’s view only, where they occurred. 

    Mentor goes beyond just identifying and scoring risky driving behavior, however. Mentor uses a multi-faceted approach involving training, coaching, gamification, and rewards to help drivers change such behavior. It provides over 300 short, engaging eLearning modules in 25+ languages, along with step-by-step coaching templates to help managers coach their at-risk drivers - a critical component in cementing behavior change. Lastly, Mentor’s Circles feature uses gamification to encourage competition, while Mentor’s NEW Rewards feature (launched 1/31/23) offers incentives and recognition for safe, defensive and sustainable driving, including virtual and monetary rewards that can be integrated into customers’ existing incentive programs.

    Through game-changing partnerships with Sfara and Bosch, Mentor includes automated crash detectionand Personal SOS features, which, in the event of an emergency inside or outside the vehicle, will invoke Emergency Response Services and live 24 x 7 support from Bosch’s dedicated global agents serving over 50 countries. 

    Launching the end of February 2023, Mentor’s EcoDrive feature powered by Greater Than enhances organizations’ ESG efforts and empowers drivers by quantifying their CO2 emissions, helping them to take control of their climate impact and helping reduce driver CO2 emissions by up to 20%.

    Mentor competes head-to-head against smartphone-based telematics apps and indirectly for driver safety budget vs. other solutions including in-vehicle telematics devices, cameras, and eLearning offerings.

    Analysis coinciding with 3.5B Mentor miles driven conducted in Spring 2022 confirmed Mentor:

    • Improved risky driving behaviors among high-risk drivers by up to 62% and 89%, over 6 and 18 months, respectively 
    • Reduced speeding events among high-risk drivers by up to 57% and 85%, over 6 and 18 months, respectively
    • Reduced distraction events among high-risk drivers by up to 60% and 88%, over 6 and 18 months, respectively
    • Improved FICO® Safe Driving Score among high-risk drivers by up to 51% and 70%, over 6 and 18 months, respectively

    Ecolab rolled out the Mentor solution to over 17,000 drivers in 65+ countries and has reduced its collisions per million miles (CPMM) by 37% over 2017-2022.  Key takeaways included:

    ·      Sustained CPMM reduction came when focus was put on coaching completions and quality reviews/manager follow-up.

    ·      Drivers that did receive their coaching on time were much less likely (2 times) to have a collision within the next two months

    Reflecting why Ecolab chose eDriving, Ecolab Director of Global Driver Safety Heather Bass noted:

    “Rather than waiting for an incident or accident to happen and following up with training and talking to the driver, could we find a program that would allow us to use technology and data to give us a view of the driver’s risk? And then give us actual actionable information and tell us where to focus so we could act before the crash even happened.”
