Cognizant is a leading professional services firm with more than 330,000 employees globally. Cognizant owes much of our success to our large presence in India, and we are committed to helping the country and its people overcome the humanitarian crisis sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic. When a second wave of COVID-19 hit India in 2021, Cognizant took decisive steps to underscore its commitment to the health and well-being of its employees, launching Operation C3 – “Cognizant Combats COVID” - to support our more than 200,000 employees in India and the community. Operation C3 focused on three primary areas: supporting COVID care facilities, supplementing oxygen supplies to address the acute shortage, and providing access to vaccinations. With time being critical, the company delivered immediate relief through $ 8.5 million in emergency funding of its Foundation in India and UNICEF to help address the acute shortages amidst the crisis and save lives. Cognizant provided $ 6.2 million to its Foundation to operationalize relief efforts. Cognizant India Foundation collaborated with not-for-profit partners and health authorities to mobilize delivery of lifesaving oxygenated COVID care beds, PPE kits for front line workers, medical and testing supplies, and special vaccination camps for differently abled persons and their caregivers. The company also provided $2 million to UNICEF to help support 25 oxygen generation plants in hospitals across India and mobilize response efforts. Through Cognizant Outreach, the company’s employee-led volunteering programme, associates rallied across the country to support those in need, dedicating more than 10,000 volunteer hours. The company’s associates in India and globally donated an additional $300,000 towards relief efforts. Under Operation C3, Cognizant partnered with top-tier health providers to help ensure easy access to vaccinations, including offering our own facilities throughout the country to be operated as vaccination sites. Our effort provided access to free vaccines for 600,000 people, including their dependents, and 50,000 contingent staff including contractors, security personnel, and their families. Cognizant provided medical support for COVID positive, paid leave for COVID care, emergency financial support for junior staff to help cover medical expenses.
