Nomination Title: AlliedBarton's Training Community, Teaming Up for Success!

Tell the story about what this nominated team achieved since January 1 2008 (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Our team of approximately 200 learning professionals is branded the
AlliedBarton Training Community.  The Training Community worked as a team, for
the January 2009 rollout of the AlliedBarton EDGE.  The AlliedBarton EDGE is
our professionally executed approach to training.  From eLearning through our
Learning Management System, to podcasts, classroom and on-the-job training, we
offer accessibility and expertise.  Our skill-based testing, evaluation and
reporting ensure the highest level of service.  Through the EDGE, we provide
the tools necessary to E-Educate, D-Develop, G-Grow and E-Engage every
employee.  The EDGE includes the following platforms:

Officers’ EDGE
Prepares officers to perform their duties and grow with the company (e.g.,
Terrorism Awareness, Safety Officer Specialist, Master Security Officer).

Managers’ EDGE
Allows managers to improve their effectiveness in managing security operations
(i.e., Security Academy in Leadership and Operations University).

Leaders’ EDGE
Developed in conjunction with one of the nation’s most respected universities,
the Leaders’ EDGE offers 40+ courses (e.g., Diversity, Strategic Thinking) to
prepare leaders for additional responsibilities.

A virtual tour site was developed to educate employees, prospects/clients on
the AlliedBarton EDGE.  It highlights successes, the Community, courses,
awards and testimonials.  Visitors are welcomed by Officer Glen,
AlliedBarton’s custom-developed avatar.

The team is working diligently to drive employees to the site.  13,375 courses
have been completed since its rollout - top three courses: 1) Civil Treatment
(1032 completions); 2) Introduction to AlliedBarton (812); and Dare to be
GREAT! (783).

With 50+ courses available, employees can complete courses on-demand,
24/7/365.  The EDGE interfaces with performance management software, thus
giving trainers and leaders the ability to make more informed decisions
regarding career development.

Our commitment to training is clear even in a challenging business
environment.  In 2008, our training budget represented 23.1% of payroll, and
our focus on development resulted in double-digit budget growth over 2007.

Our investment in employees is imperative considering our growth – our
employee population doubled four times in ten years to approximately 55,000.
This team is the glue that holds it all together.  Trinidad Median, an
employee for 37 years, explains the role of AlliedBarton’s training, “When
people ask why I’ve been at one company so many years, I tell them variety is
the spice of life and that AlliedBarton provides that spice in the form of
cutting-edge training.”

Our commitment to training allows us to be the most responsive firm in the
industry.  Training prepared Officer Cariddi to rescue twin babies from the
Connetquot River after the car they were in rolled 70+ feet and plunged into
the river as their terrified mother screamed for help.  The mother
accidentally left the car in neutral.  Officer Cariddi’s quick response saved
their lives.

The level of success the group has achieved is only possible when all involved
rally around a common goal.  Our Training Community continues to exemplify the
true meaning of the word team, and they do so with passion.  Nothing would be
more gratifying than to receive an award that recognizes them exclusively for
the efforts they put forth on a daily basis.
