Nomination Category: Sales Awards Individual Categories
Nomination Sub Category: Sales Training Manager of the Year

Nomination Title: Stacey Pezold, Sales Trainer

Tell the story about what this nominee achieved since the beginning of July last year (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

With a revenue growth rate of 50% year over year, it’s obvious Paycom has a
great payroll and HR product and a sales team that knows how to sell it.  And,
any business knows behind every great sales team is a great sales trainer.

In 2009, after unprecedented success as a Branch Manager and Regional Manager,
Paycom asked Stacey Pezold to lead their sales training department.  She had
experience and success in training her own sales teams, but now she was being
asked to single-handedly create a training program for all of Paycom’s sales
new hires and for the elite sales team who make up Paycom’s President’s Club.

Stacey jumped at the opportunity.  She customized a four week program for new
hires consisting of two weeks of webinar training, one week of hands-on
training alongside a seasoned sales representative and one week of training at
corporate headquarters for advanced selling skills.   The webinar training
allows new hires to participate from 16 different branch offices.  They learn
the fundamentals of finance, human resources and payroll.  Then they move into
the steps of the sales process including setting appointments, overcoming
objections and closing the sell.  Stacey also ensures all of her trainees have
strong product and technology knowledge.

Since 2009 the new hires trained by the programs and curriculum created by
Stacey Pezold is responsible for selling over 10 million in revenue.  There is
no doubt.  Her training works!

“Stacey has developed a unique training program and delivers it effectively,”
said Jeff York, Paycom’s CSO.  “Her training is comparable to a mini MBA
program, giving our sales associates the confidence and ability to compete
with sales people who have been selling for years.”

Stacey’s President’s Club training is designed for top sales executives at
Paycom. She decided this group needed a highly specialized curriculum designed
to focus on personal development, professional acumen, and advanced product
training.  “Focusing on these three core areas, you create a true executive
comfortable with speaking with decision-makers at any level of an
organization,” said Stacey.

Her unique approach in both new hire and President’s Club training is
interactive and high energy.  “It’s important to know your audience.  Sales
people respond better with a variety of teaching styles,” said Stacey.  She
uses role playing and incorporates real life scenarios pushing her trainees
outside of their comfort zone.  She also believes they gain more when they
learn from the collective experience of the group.

“If you want people to stay engaged, they need to know what is in it for
them,” explained Stacey.  Participants in her class soon learn the huge impact
good training has on their career and financial success.

The company measures Stacey’s success in the success of their sales force.
But, Stacey measures her success a little differently.  “My favorite moments
are when I receive an enthusiastic call from one of my trainees telling me how
great one of the techniques worked to help them make the sell.  That’s the
best reward of all,” said Stacey.
