    Total 189 words used.

Bruce Ableson has been the Senior Director of the Global Field Readiness & Enablement (FRE) organization at Adobe for 3 years. As a serial entrepreneur, Bruce has a talent for building successful businesses.

In his early career, Bruce worked for several years as a systems consultant and programmer, eventually creating OpenDiary, an online blogging site with innovative features that later became central to the architecture of other social networking and blogging sites.

Bruce continued to learn and broaden his skillset through several roles, including VP of Sales Engineering at KickApps, VP of Client Solutions at Echo, and SVP of Customer Strategy for Livefyre. Bruce joined Adobe in 2016 when Livefyre was acquired by Adobe.

Bruce’s experience in engineering, sales, product knowledge, business development, and strategy set the stage for taking the reins of the field enablement organization in 2021. His knowledge and business savvy was the key driver in transforming Adobe’s random and reactive Field Readiness & Enablement organization into the data driven, structured, and scalable organization that it is today. Thanks to Bruce’s leadership, FRE now drives impact to the learners & their performance, significantly influencing Adobe’s revenue.

  3. Outline the nominee's achievements since July 1 2022 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 250 words used.

When Bruce first became the Director of the Global Field Readiness & Enablement organization (FRE), he inherited a disparate group of departments that, due to Adobe’s many acquisitions, all worked independently of one another. These departments were primarily reactive, creating ad hoc programming that was random and reactionary to the immediate asks of field leadership.

Right away, Bruce established a cohesive organizational structure that aligned to Adobe’s larger business goals, including creating teams devoted to project management and delivery, program excellence, and data measurement. With this new organizational structure, he then implemented programming strategy to predictable, timely trainings that aligned to business needs. This ‘new FRE’ had standard guidelines for the planning, development, communication, measurement, and delivery of enablement.

Since July 1, 2022 the Field Readiness & Enablement organization has grown in size by 23% with the budget increasing 176%, from $2.1M USD to $5.8M USD. This growth both reflects the positive momentum of the organization's structure and programming strategy, but also reflects the support that leadership has for Bruce’s vision, winning a seat at the table with Adobe’s executives.

Not only is this momentum visible through the support of Adobe internally, but also through external awards. In the past year, several FRE programs have won Brandon Hall Human Capital Management Awards. These include:

    • Adobe Global Sales Onboarding Program
    • Adobe Credential Program
    • Technical Hands-On Labs
    • Adobe University Program

None of these awards would have been possible without Bruce’s support & vision for Adobe’s Field Readiness & Enablement organization.

  4. Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

    Total 185 words used.

  6. Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the nominee's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 249 words used.

Under Bruce’s leadership, the Adobe Field Readiness & Enablement organization has had distinct and significant impact on Adobe’s field performance. An excellent example of this is through the data of Adobe’s Sales Onboarding program. Last year alone, Sales Onboarding had over 500 unique learners with an average completion percentage of 90% for all trainings. When Bruce began at Adobe, Onboarding was suffering from a longer time to closing first deals and seller attrition, and was relying on qualitative feedback, rather than data-driven measurement.

Today, Global Sales Onboarding gathers data to determine the effectiveness of their sellers and ROI. In 2023, if a new hire completed 100% of their onboarding assignments, they were:

    • 30-40% more likely to hit 25% attainment goal
    • 10-18% more likely to hit 50% attainment goal
    • 11-20% more likely to hit 75% attainment goal

Onboarding is not the only place that Bruce’s leadership has had an impact. FRE’s average Net Promoter Score (NPS) from Adobe sellers is 52, which grades as 'Excellent' according to NPS standards. On average 86% of sellers feel confident in their learning objectives after training.

Since Bruce began in the organization, FRE has focused heavily on personalizing and rewarding learning. Under Bruce’s leadership, FRE has completely revamped their University model, Adobe Digital University. Here sellers can earn credits for completion of learnings, and badges for competing exams that test their skills. With this model, Adobe targets learning specific to an individual’s role, allowing learners to have focused learning to pair with their workflow.
