Nomination Title: Using Technology to Create Virtual Classrooms in a Pandemic

In the early days of March 2020 as the COVID-19 pandemic started to spread across Europe the Education Services Management Team in EMEA decided to equip all Dell trainers with Polystudio conferencing cameras, drawing tablets and wireless headsets. At this early stage it was not clear on how long this crisis will last and how big the impact will be for our customers, partners and employees. The main target we wanted to accomplish was to protect our employees and customers health while still being able to provide the training service our customers need to manage their IT-environment.

With our leading with digital initiative, we switched all our classroom training offerings to 00% virtual and therefore lowered the overall risk of a COVID infection for our team members. All Dell instructors supported our customers from their home office or a virtual enabled conference room since start of the pandemic. Especially during various lockdown situations was this very helpful in keeping our business alive.

By doing this Dell was in the position to keep our training offerings as forecasted and we even increased our student numbers by an average of 30% compared to previous years.

This was well accepted and appreciated by our customers - even by customers who never accepted virtual training in the past.

Our virtual classroom training is offering our students the best of traditional classroom training experience combined with the best of online training without the need for travelling. Especially during the ongoing pandemic we are able to remotely support our internal and external customers at their convenience without taking any risks.
