Nomination Title: Pat Mussieux, Founder

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated entrepreneur since the beginning of July last year (up to 500 words):

Recognizing that the ‘glass ceiling’ really does still exist for women in business, Pat Mussieux founded a Company in 2007 (with a one-year hiatus in 2008 when she took a J.O.B. to help with finances) to help women entrepreneurs achieve financial independence. She founded Wealthy Women Leaders to provide education and support to women entrepreneurs globally. At the time Pat had just left her 22-year marriage with virtually nothing, dealt with the deaths of numerous friends and family members, and made the decision to move across the country to begin a new life and re-launch her business after a 5 year ‘period of personal hell’. She persisted with her vision of creating a new life and a viable business – but with no contacts and no clients, she made the decision to temporarily accept a J.O.B. in order to get her finances and her life together (banks would not even look at her for a business loan!!)

In 2009, she stepped away from that job and back into her business……and her purpose! In the first 18 months, after hiring a high-level marketing coach, Pat succeeded at taking her business past the 6-figure mark. Fast forward 3 years: WWL is now a multiple 6-figure business, with a team of 3 global assistants, working with women clients around the world – having just returned from a trip to Zimbabwe in June, in partnership with CAMFED, teaching women in business success tips in marketing and sales. Pat also supports Kiva.org as part of her business mission.

Some of her efforts have not gone unrecognized. Since founding the business, Pat has been nominated for the 2010, 2011 and 2012 RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award, by Chatelaine Magazine as ‘Woman of the Year – 2011” and was a finalist for the STEVIE Award for Women in Business – Best Canadian Entrepreneur 2011.

Pat is recognized as one of Canada’s top business coaches; however, her achievements do not stop at Awards. Her net income increased 418% in 2011 over 2010. Although Pat is very busy running a business, she managed to continue other professional pursuits. Pat also hosts a live radio show (“The Best of Business”) and is a recognized public speaker inspiring women entrepreneurs around the world. She has written two books, and a Home Study System that focuses on Public Speaking skills.

Pat Mussieux is an entrepreneur, but more passionately a step-mother and grand- mother to 3. She is committed to encouraging, and inspiring, her step-daughter to succeed in her own business, and models the values of family (in particular) to her inquisitive teen-age grand-daughter! She enjoys cooking, writing, many outdoor sports and particularly enjoys writing the blog about her annual trip around the world on a private plane (for free) – a whole new ‘story’ as Oprah would say! She walks her talk when it comes to mindset training – and creating the life and the business of your dreams.
