Nomination Title: JuE Wong, CEO

Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated executive since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Over the last year and a half, JuE Wong has further solidified StriVectin as a prestige brand in the US market, growing rapidly and strategically in key retail locations. Internationally, she takes a “narrow and deep” approach. Not satisfied with being a company that says they are in 250 countries for impact, Wong focuses on key markets across the globe and establishes the brand in them holistically. StriVectin is now present in 55 countries within key markets abroad, including France, Italy, Spain, the U.K., South Korea and Japan.

In late 2013, Wong took the brand’s cult classic, SD Intensive Concentrate - a product credited with pioneering the cosmeceutical category - and went back to the labs to create a new groundbreaking age-fighting formula with state-of-the-art highly active ingredients proven in clinical trials to help visibly transform skin and fight wrinkles. One tube of SD Intensive Concentrate was sold every 59 seconds around the world – a skincare phenomenon. Since its relaunch, next-generation SD Advanced retail sales have grown by 40%.

In September 2014, Wong once again took a risk of taking a consumer favorite, prestige beauty’s #1 best-selling neck cream, and reformulating on the basis that if there was better technology available, StriVectin owed it to their customers. In just the first month of relaunch, early retail sell-through of TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream is very encouraging with the brand seeing a staggering 100% increase in sales in certain locations. So confident in the reformulation efficacy of both aforementioned products, testing was done against original formulas and produced superior results.

To understand the genesis of why facial muscles tend to lose tone as we get older, Wong led the research and development behind the brand’s first device, forecasting the potential and plotting growth in the category as a whole. In August, 2014, she ushered to market StriVectinLABS Facial Toner, a FDA-cleared micro-current device that uses the same advanced electrotherapy found in doctors’ offices and high-end spas to stimulate the face for a more youthful looking appearance. The effort was a personal crusade of Wong’s, as she believes the technology and the science are sound and that the visible results speak for themselves. The device sold out in the first week at one of the brand’s key retail doors.

Losing her husband of more than 20 years to an unexpected massive heart attack re-shaped Wong’s view of her personal and professional life immensely in the following years. She currently serves on the Board of the American Heart Association to raise the awareness of preventing heart diseases, has chaired Go-Red events and has served on the boards of the Atlanta Chapter of the YMCA and the Who’s Who in the Asian American Communities. Wong encourages everyone in the company to give back to their communities, and such has established a new company policy. Each employee may take one day a month to volunteer at a charity of their choice or their children’s school. Her personal objective is not only for the company to succeed, but also for the company to provide for StriVectin employees and the broader community.
