    SDCCU® President and CEO Teresa Campbell has demonstrated in-depth business acumen and insight yielding huge successes for SDCCU and the local economy. She is a highly strategic and effective leader who genuinely cares about advancing the credit union movement and enhancing people’s lives by offering innovative banking products and reliable financial services.

    SDCCU’s products and services are leading the way for overall credit union success because of the leadership by Campbell. Through a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and engaging in prudent practices, SDCCU is an industry leader and has achieved continued success—with $11.1 billion in assets and more than 438,000 members, both have doubled in the 13 years Campbell has served as president and CEO.

    Campbell’s leadership has been acknowledged with several awards.She was selected as one of SD Metro Magazine’s Women of Accomplishment and a Business Woman of the Year andSan Diego’s Top 50 Executives by the San Diego Business Journal. She was recognized by the California Nevada Credit Union League with a Distinguished Service Award in 2022. SDCCU was selected as a 2022 San Diego’s Best and Brightest in Wellness winner by the National Association for Business Resources for the fourth consecutive year.

    Through Campbell's leadership and direction, SDCCU hosted over 144 financial wellness presentations for over 2,415 attendees in 2022, including credit union members, community organizations and the general public. SDCCU was voted BEST Credit Union for the 23rd year in a row by the readers of The San Diego Union-Tribune and recognized as the BEST Auto Loan Provider, Financial Planner, Mortgage Provider and Place to Work. Campbell was personally honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues. The SDCCU community outreach was recognized with a 2023 Stevie Award for our SDCCU Stuff the Bus campaign, which raised funds that purchased back-to-school supplies for over 18,000 students experiencing homelessness in San Diego County. SDCCU was also recognized as among the 2022 San Diego Business Journal Nonprofit Awards and Corporate Citizenship Awards winners. Campbell’s leadership led to SDCCU receiving a 2022 Stevie Awards for Great Employers: Bronze, Employer of the Year – Banking. In addition, SDCCU was selected as a 2022 San Diego’s Best and Brightest in Wellness Elite Winner by the National Association for Business Resources and the Best and Brightest Brilliance Award.

    These accomplishments are significant because they have fueled SDCCU’s growth, success and fiscal strength, which has helped establish the credit union as San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution and one of the country’s top credit unions.

    SDCCU’s net capital, as of December 31, 2022, remained outstanding at 14.87 percent and has consistently remained well above the 7.00% minimum capital level for “well capitalized credit unions,” as established by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). It is also indicative of SDCCU’s fiscal strength and ability to weather difficult storms due to Campbell’s leadership and commitment to engage in prudent practices that ensure SDCCU remains a healthy and well-capitalized credit union.

    Campbell has also concentrated on putting people first and doing what's right for SDCCU’s employees and the community. Campbell leads by example. In her own words, “The most important lesson I have learned is to treat everyone with respect; I don’t ask people to do something I wouldn’t do. And, of course, always do what’s right for the organization.” Those qualities, combined with her organizational focus—to create a positive work environment and empower employees, deliver exceptional service to customers by leveraging new technologies and give back to the communities where SDCCU operates—have directly led to SDCCU’s tremendous success over the past thirteen years.
