  3. Briefly describe the nominated organization: history and past performance (up to 200 words):

    Total 194 words used.

Jacine Greenwood, the founder of Roccoco, turned to skincare innovation out of necessity. Dealing with her own skin issues and her children's eczema and acne, Jacine saw the lack of suitable products on the market. As a beauty therapist, she felt compelled to find a solution.
Discovering that many skincare products contained harsh chemicals and failed to deliver long-lasting results, Jacine began experimenting at her kitchen table. Despite going through a difficult divorce, she launched Roccoco in 2011 and started trading in 2013, reinvesting profits back into the business. Armed with a goal and passion, it generated $34k in the first year.
Driven by her personal struggles and the need for alternative treatments for conditions like atopic dermatitis, Jacine pursued qualifications as a cosmetic chemist. Over the past 10 years, she has become an internationally recognised educator and advocate for proper skincare.
Roccoco, drawing inspiration from the French Rococo style, symbolising love, nature, and youth, stands as a reputable brand in a competitive industry, prioritising the use of natural ingredients. Jacine's passion for her business and people is rooted in creativity and beauty, aiming to empower individuals to feel comfortable in their own skin.
  4. Outline the organization's achievements since July 1 2021 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 252 words used.

Starting with nothing but a goal and a fiery passion, our first-year turnover of $34k grew to $45k in 2014, and over $199k in 2015, even though Jacine needed major spinal surgery.
By 2017 the business hit $515k despite Jacine having three spinal surgeries, alongside parenting full-time as a single mother. By 2019, we were making a profit, turning over $1.66m.
    Our financials continued to grow:
    • - 2020: $3.25m
    • - 2021: $3.5m
    • - 2022: $4.2m
Revenue growth in 2023 has been phenomenal with a turnover of over $6million, despite major setbacks and personal challenges.
Roccoco was listed by the Financial Times in 2022 as the Fastest Growing Beauty Brand in Australia, based on 4 years revenue compounding growth, and in 66th in the Australian Financial Review as the fastest-growing beauty brand in 2021.
We secured a $50k grant from the Queensland Government to purchase specialised equipment, fast-tracking production of our newest product Frangipani and Lychee Body Firming Creme. The 50k containers enable us to hit the market in a big way with this life-changing product.
To help rocket our growth, we engaged two new marketing team members to free Jacine up to focus on what she is good at - creating new, innovative products. These key hires reflect our growth over the past 12 months.
Through being published in professional industry magazines, speaking at medical conferences, and our online education, we are changing the industry to be more transparent and delivering products that really do change people’s lives.
  5. Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 250 words used.

We are the leading change in the beauty industry because we firmly believe that it’s not about how many products we sell, it’s about how many lives we change. This is not just a business for us; it’s driven by Jacine’s personal experiences with skin challenges and her desire to ensure others do not suffer.
Although our growth has been phenomenal, we are not stopping here. We plan to:
    • Expand our product range into hair care with an interesting potential using a natural derivative of sugar beets and corn, which outperforms standard products, leading to more natural, sustainable options.
    • Automate our homogenisation process with a 1000kg homogeniser to upscale. We can only homogenise in 100 kg batches, filling by hand and semi-automatic processes.
    • Development of our US company, massively upscale production, a larger team, a happier community, and massive revenue growth.
    • Move to a bigger manufacturing factory.
    • Acquire the equipment to scale production accordingly.
    • Continue to give many of our processes a facelift.
    • Be known as a company that treats those skin conditions like acne and eczema.
    • Continue to be seen as heartfelt educators, sharing what we know about supporting and repairing the skin barrier. Far too many people are treating these skin problems with chemical peels and lasers, traumatising the skin.
    • Better inform people that there's a better way to treat acne and sensitive skin.
    • Create products that contain 85% or more botanical ingredients, with some 100% natural, and source ingredients from sources that also respect the skin barrier.
  6. Reference any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

    Total 143 words used.

Founder, Jacine is committed to ongoing education for herself, her team and her customers. We have the potential to change lives by looking at the research and innovating solutions where things seemed hopeless. Some of those results feature in the attached support document.
We commit to ongoing research, constantly learning more about natural skincare ingredients. The truth is that our newest product, latest research, and most recent idea are only as good as our last paper. We continue to be a valuable resource of information to our community. We’re also a hub of data for clinicians who want to expand their knowledge. This always results in relationships that yield more sales, more product interest, and the word of what we do spreading further, which sustains our business viability. You will find examples of our media wins and educational focus in the support document.
