Alyse Maslonik led a life of poverty and abuse in her childhood. At the young age of 2, her biological father forced her into a domestic abuse shelter where they lived for an extended period of time. Following that harrowing escape, Alyse suffered abuse from a stepfather for nearly a decade.
After testifying against her abusive stepfather in her early 20’s, Alyse packed up all of her belongings in her 1996 Chevy Corsica, with just $63 dollars to her name and hope for a better life and set out to change her world. Her goal was to make the world kinder and more empathetic to those that have suffered great challenges, yet the abuse she experienced did damage to her confidence to dream big enough to effect real change in her 20’s. Over a decade later, Alyse finally gained the confidence through small career wins to dream big- and boy, did she ever.
Alyse worked for several companies, always pushing back against the status quo to develop out-of-the-box solutions to solve systems of injustice. Alyse realized that she could make a more significant mark on the world outside of corporate America.

Since Alyse received a specific tax credit scholarship, she understood how difficult it was for everyone to navigate tax credit programs to maximize the benefit for all. In September of 2021, just 6 weeks postpartum with her 3rd child, Alyse filed her business application for RedefinED- an innovative development company for private k-12 schools in the United States. In typical Alyse fashion, she developed a revenue-generating solution outside the norm- one that could create life-changing ripple effects for generations to come. Blame it on her ability to triumph over tragedy or her knack for conquering chaos, Alyse’s past experiences built her for this moment. Her idea? RedefinED would partner with private schools to raise scholarships and financial aid assistance for under-privileged children to attend the schools RedefinED partners with. These tax credit funds turn into scholarships that help give opportunities to children to afford tuition at private institutions, while schools benefit from a more diverse student population.
In January of 2022, Alyse signed her first big contract with 8 schools and was able to start building her team. In the first year, Alyse and her team raised over $8.5 million dollars and those funds raised stand to impact nearly 10,000 students (and counting!).
Today, RedefinED has helped raise nearly $20 million for students, generated nearly $2 million in business revenue with a team of 6 full-time employees, and RedefinED has just partnered with their 60th school.

Alyse is a statistical anomaly- a woman that by all measures should not have achieved what she has. She created this company without a single outside investor, and to this day, owns 100% of the company. By all accounts and percentages of probability, she should still be stuck in the cycle of generational poverty and abuse. But now in her 30’s, not only is she a mother to 3, a wife to her high school sweetheart, and a Founder and CEO, most importantly- she is happy. Her childhood dream of escaping the abuse and living a life with profound importance has arrived, and she has taken every single opportunity to give back to those that have experienced a life like hers. Alyse has been vulnerable and open about her past, knowing that within vulnerability lies courage and hope for others. In the past 2 years, she has impacted tens of thousands of students, thousands of families and is committed to changing the financial future of her entire staff. Beyond that, Alyse is currently completing her memoir, “The Anger She Keeps” that details her true story of rage and redemption. In the book, she walks others journey through abuse and the importance of harnessing our righteous anger from injustices we have experienced to create positive impacts for future generations. Alyse embodies all the resiliency and determination it takes to be a successful female entrepreneur and she deserves this award without hesitation.
