Madolyn Johnson’s drive and vision make her a role model to many women whose lives have been touched and inspired because of her influence. In 1971, Johnson founded The HomeMaker’s Idea Company. Johnson was a stay-at-home mom with a personal mission to maintain family priorities and generate a good income. As the company thrived, she was suddenly faced with a great personal challenge when her young daughter was diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. During this difficult time, Johnson was thankful she had a career that gave her the flexibility to care for her daughter. This experience only furthered her resolve to offer woman the same opportunity to put family first. Today, Johnson shares her passion and entrepreneurial spirit with more than 6,000 HomeMaker’s independent sales representatives in 48 states.

Throughout the year Johnson meets with representatives and inspires them to believe in the their dreams at several company meetings and events. During the company’s National Convention (June 24-25, 2004), Johnson will shower top representatives with jewelry, product rewards and furniture awards for outstanding sales and recruiting achievements. At the company’s January 2004 leadership conference, Johnson introduced a new compensation plan that gives them even greater financial and career opportunities.

In any given month, Madolyn receives personal letters from representatives who want to express their gratitude for her generosity and vision to create a company that embraces women helping women. For example, a representative wrote how the company’s Disney cruise in December 2003 that she earned touched her life.

“Thank you for making my family’s dream come true again on the Disney Cruise. It was truly the vacation of a lifetime for my family and me. We all feel very proud and blessed to be part of The HomeMaker’s Idea family. Thank you for making a huge difference in our lives.”

“You are one of the most caring, sincere, honest and generous woman I know. The Disney Cruise we enjoyed in December was so special to our family, we created memories that will never be forgotten. As a 41-year-old woman I finally feel whole as a person and I know one of the reasons for that is because of the journey I have been on with you and this wonderful company for almost eight years. I anxiously look forward to where this journey will take me!

Johnson also helps many women through a partnership with Rebuilding Together. HomeMaker’s representatives and employees volunteer for this charity, which primarily assists elderly and disabled women with home repairs during a national workday.

Thanks to Johnson’s vision thousands of women can dare to dream. They can have the best of both worlds — they can stay at home with their families and still have a rewarding career. HomeMaker’s representatives reach out and touch the lives of other women by offering them great entrepreneurial opportunities. Women helping women is what The HomeMaker’s Idea Company was founded upon and continues to thrive upon today.
