Describe for the judges the activities and accomplishments of the nominated organization since the beginning of July last year (up to 525 words):

Laserfiche was founded in 1987 by CEO Nien-Ling Wacker. Driven by her passion for document management, Wacker built Laserfiche from the ground up – a company that is now recognized as one of the world’s top providers of enterprise content management. Laserfiche uses its Run Smarter® philosophy to create simple/elegant enterprise content management (ECM) solutions and has served more than 34,000 organizations worldwide.

This past year was marked by tremendous growth and success for Laserfiche. In January 2013, Wacker introduced Laserfiche’s most highly anticipated product yet – Laserfiche 9. The platform unites enterprise content management (ECM) and business process management (BPM) in an unprecedented way. The product literally places information at users' fingertips, equipping them with the ability to easily access/interact with information where they need it, when they need it. Laserfiche Forms, the e-forms component of Laserfiche 9, extends business processes to the point of capture, getting information into the right hands quickly and reliably. In addition, the BPM tools that are baked into Laserfiche 9 give employees more information about their tasks, providing them with customized instructions for the actions they need to take at any stage in a business process. Ultimately, Laserfiche 9 allows customers to execute processes such as case management, client onboarding and accounts payable processing in a completely paperless, automated manner.

Laserfiche is fiercely committed to its customers and user community. People are demanding instant, self-service access to information via the web in a convenient and secure way. Filling this demand, Laserfiche empowers its users with the knowledge and expertise they need to quickly and easily update their approach to information delivery—without the need to engage expensive experts.

Laserfiche’s user community is the heart and soul of the company. The company holds regular user groups, regional training, online training, and provides whitepapers, webinars, video tutorials and community forums. Laserfiche’s Solution Exchange for example, is a unique forum which is dedicated entirely to the company’s user community where customers can publish step-by-step instructions (including code and screenshots) outlining how they have used Laserfiche to solve specific problems. The company also holds a highly-attended annual conference, Empower, which is dedicated 100 percent to its user community and is attended by users, resellers, staff, analysts, press consultants and integrators.

Laserfiche boasts a culture and environment that encourages employees to reach their full potential both personally and professionally. In particular, guided by Wacker, Laserfiche is focused on helping women in the workplace succeed, offering flexible work schedules, the ability to work from home and other perks related to work-life balance. Many of Laserfiche’s female employees play an active role in the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) whose mission is to help women achieve their full potential as engineers and leaders. The company also has a very close relationship with Harvey Mudd College, offering an internship program in which Laserfiche employees mentor young women interested in a career in software engineering.

Finally, Laserfiche is very supportive of the local Long Beach community, partnering with the Long Beach Police Department, offering up its technology to fight crime, and participating in other volunteer initiatives to help make the city a vibrant, safe place to live.
