Hatch was founded by husband and wife team Ann Crady Weiss and Dave Weiss, who always believed in technology’s power to improve lives. Their own trials of sleepless nights ranging from long nights with their first baby to insomnia led them to find a way to make sleep easier. Ann and Dave jumpstarted Hatch’s success after a positive appearance on Shark Tank, and from there, made it their mission to help families find the sleep they deserve by launching Rest, a smart sound machine to help little ones develop healthy sleep habits, which has since solidified itself as a baby registry must-have. After realizing that parents were using the Rest devices in their own bedrooms, Hatch listened to their customer's needs and designed Restore, its first sleep product geared for adults. Since then, Hatch has expanded its Rest family, all while listening carefully to customers’ wants and needs, from fine-tuning its products/content based on feedback to fully launching all new products. Over the past 5 years since launching Rest, the sleep brand’s most beloved product with 26,000+ 5-star Amazon ratings, Hatch has listened closely to its customers as they experienced the product. The Hatch team learned what users love about Rest, as well as what users were asking for. Using these learnings, Hatch launched Rest Mini last year, and just upgraded Rest to a new experience for the first time - shifting from simply offering a library of options for parents to choose to a much more guided experience, and making tweaks so that the product is more intuitive than its predecessor. Hatch created Rest 2nd Gen so that it does all the work for parents from day one. Additionally, Hatch focused on improving the customer experience on its adult product, Restore, which was featured in TIME Magazine as one of the “100 Best Inventions of 2020.” The brand spent the past year revamping its Hatch Sleep Membership to become a more guided experience with a vast library of content options. The brand paid attention to which type of content was the most loved, like nostalgic sleep stories, and developed new content accordingly. With this, Restore sales have skyrocketed over the past year, selling 168k Restore units in 2021 units and seeing a 130% YoY growth. When launching its newest products, Rest Mini and Rest 2nd Gen, Hatch listened to what consumers had to say and made sure that their voices and concerns were heard, from their desire for a product with a more guided experience, a parent-friendly intuitive interface, and more. Since the launch of Rest 2nd Gen, Hatch customers have shared their appreciation with the team, taking note of how Hatch is there for their family every night. “This is our third Hatch Rest and we love it even more than our previous ones. The WiFi works perfectly and the additional content has been worth it to us!”
While other brands in the sleep space focus solely on improving baby sleep, Hatch recognized the importance of healthy sleep for the whole family after listening to its customers. Parents shared that they were using their child's product, Rest, in their own bedrooms, sparking Hatch to expand beyond baby sleep for the first time to launch its first adult sleep product, Restore, and meet the customer where they were.
