Briefly describe the purpose of the nominated video and its impact and results to date (up to 125 words):

Purple Dreams is an inspirational documentary about an all-black cast of high schoolers who break free of their circumstances through the power of performing arts. It’s Glee in real life; unfiltered and unrehearsed. The documentary combines poignant storytelling with socially relevant topics, fueling the arts-education debate and combating the negative stereotypes placed on black youths.

Shot with documentary-style filmmaking for a year and a half and now in the editorial stage, the film has potential for national recognition. To help market the film and secure finishing funds and distribution, the producers created a trailer depicting the students’ inspiring journey. The trailer has helped secure a material grant from Wells Fargo and has led to interest from a prominent theatrical distribution company and 3 television networks.
