during the eligibility period (up to 500 words):
A bold thinker and decisive leader, Gail joined Constant Contact in 1999 when the
company had only seven employees and a small customer base, but Gail saw the
long-term value of the opportunity to create a web-based email marketing service
to serve the needs of small businesses. In her first year as CEO, Gail led the
effort to raise a critical round of venture funding, doubled the number of employees, and
increased the number of customers more than tenfold.
Gail’s sharp focus on the marketing needs of small businesses and nonprofits,
innovative partnership strategy, and commitment to customer education are at the
core of Constant Contact’s successful business model. By fostering deep
relationships with customers and partners, Gail created a business primed to
respond creatively and rapidly to changing customer needs. In addition, she
helped set-up programs for numerous channel partners, resellers, and affiliates
including Amazon.com, AOL, IBM, Inc.com, Intuit, Network Solutions, Overture,
PayPal, Pitney Bowes, and ValueWeb who offer Constant Contact to millions of
small businesses.
At Constant Contact, Gail oversees the company’s leadership of email marketing
best practices, focused specifically on permission-based email and stopping
spam. As a founding member of The Email Sender and Provider Coalition (ESPC),
a group formed to fight spam while protecting the delivery of legitimate email,
Constant Contact champions the interests of small businesses and continues to
play a leading role in finding workable solutions to today’s spam problems.
The company’s Cares4Kids program provides many ways for the company,
customers, and employees to give back to their communities. The program is
designed to help children-focused organizations communicate and connect at
local levels for fundraising and other purposes. Cares4Kids enables Constant
Contact customers, partners, and employees to sponsor a free Constant Contact
account for groups they personally support and that meet the program
requirements.
Gail has been featured in leading publications, including Fortune Small Business,
Entrepreneur, Small Business Technology Magazine, Inc. Magazine, Christian
Science Monitor, and Boston Business Journal. Her radio and TV appearances
include CNN, eBay Radio, and Small Business Advocate. She is also an
Entrepreneur.com small business columnist.
Under Gail’s leadership, the company has received many award recognitions,
including being ranked 628th on the 2007 Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing
private companies in the United States and was named the 14th fastest growing
company on the Deloitte 2007 Technology Fast 50 for New England list. In 2006,
Constant Contact was named the 71st fastest growing company on Deloitte's
2006 Technology Fast 500 list and the 7th fastest growing private company in
Massachusetts by the Boston Business Journal.
In addition to these achievements, Constant Contact was voted as one of the top
products in 2005 by Small Business Technology Magazine and the winner of
the “2005 Web Marketing Today Award of Merit for Excellence in E-Mail Marketing
Software.”
Most significantly however, Gail Goodman’s leadership and hard work over the last
8 years paid off on October 3, 2007 as Constant Contact became a public
company (NasdaqGM: CTCT).
