  3. Briefly describe the nominated individual: history and past performance (up to 200 words):

    Founder & CEO, Lara Jones, built Be a Legend from scratch when she emigrated to this country, a few years ago. Since then, she has created several divisions of the company, from scratch, in leadership performance, 8 months ago, and has created a $1.3M revenue stream for this division alone in a very short space of time. Her son died tragically as a baby in 2021, and she nearly lost her life the same night. After that, she created the innovative “G.R.I.T system” which saved her life and is revolutionary for teams and companies to enhance their performance through adversity. For example, ‘Bounce back from a bad quarter: G.R.I.T through it’. Goldman Sachs, Wells Fargo, Northwestern Mutual, SLB and more are clients and workshops, performance programs, and her G.R.I.T system have been taught to organizations to help train, gain, & engage employees to create a successful culture. She educates on how to lead through adversity, make better decisions, adapt communication styles to suit the needs of others, strength based leadership, & educates on emotional intelligence to better manage teams. She helps seasoned leaders, aspiring leaders, new leaders and more.

    Lara Jones has won several awards for her performance programs by the Stevie awards as well as local and other national awards. She created an innovative assessment called the “grit type indicator”, and has identified the four elements of GRIT (Get it done, Reframe thinking, Impact others & Take responsibility), and the four types of GRIT (Generator, Re-engineer, innovator, and Trust Builder), and reveals which grit type you are. She educates on how to lead through adversity, make better decisions, adapt communication styles to suit the needs of others, strength based leadership, & educates on emotional intelligence to better manage teams. She has increased revenue by 300% for one of her client’s in the tech space by introducing her innovative G.R.I.T system and providing her leadership performance programs that consist of introductory or intensive options. She created 3 programs called: ‘The Empowerment Series”, “Transformational Leadership Experience”, “The Team Talk Series”. The pillars she created for the ‘empowerment series’ include, Revenue, Recruitment, Retention, G.R.I.T and Comms & EQ. Her other programs she created and developed include accountability, grit, EQ, communication, Decision-making and impact. The team talk series focuses on Communication, recruiting and conflict resolution. Lara also leads the way in the industry and has phenomenal success, closing $300K in one month, recently, through the innovative programs, leading to a productive culture for organizations. She has won thought leader of the year 2023 and has been the keynote speaker at several large conferences.

    Lara Jones is the first person to create a system to teach Grit. When Angela Duckworth came out with Grit as a description of passion and perseverance, Lara took it much deeper and wanted to help and teach so many others how to develop grit and to prove that everyone has grit within them, they just need to learn how to use the tools to unlock it. She talks about the grit you choose and the grit you don’t. If individuals, teams, companies actually learned and developed GRIT by choosing their grit, how much easier would decisions be, how much more would culture align, how much conflict would be reduced when grit chooses them (adversity). No-one else in the leadership industry or sales performance space, has created a unique, innovative system like this. She pulls from her experience through her own trauma from when she lost her son and nearly her life, her education in neuroscience, psychology, and mental health counseling, along with research conducted and has written a book called “Hunt or be Hunted: How anyone can develop grit and lead like a legend” in which she reveals her G.R.I.T system and GRIT type indicator. Because of her thought leadership in this space, she has created a large following with companies reaching out to want to learn more about her G.R.I.T system and how it can enhance the performance of their teams to create a healthier work environment, aligned culture and greater productivity.
