Dominique Senequier has been ranked in the annual World’s Most Powerful Women list of Forbes Magazine for three consecutive years.

As one of private equity's few leading ladies, Paris-based Senequier has made bold moves in recent years to increase her investment in the US market. Early last year, AXA Private Equitya $1.8 billion portfolio of private equity investments from Bank of America. This June, AXA Private Equityacquired a $1.7 billion portfolio from Citigroup, which includes 207 limited partnership interests in private equity buyout funds and direct stakes in companies. AXA Private Equity called it one of the largest secondary private equity transactions ever made.

During the awards for Excellence in Private Equity-Europe in 2011 AXA Private Equity was honored twice. The firm itself won the French Private Equity of the year award while their CEO, Dominique Senequier, won the Most Influential Woman in European Private Equity award.

Senequier founded the Private Equity firm in 1996. It has become a power player in Europe and abroad, with a portfolio of 600 funds and $28 billion in managed assets. Senequier was one of just seven women admitted to France's Ecole Polytechnique in 1972; the first year women were allowed to enroll.

Ms. Dominique Senequier is the CEO, Chairman, Chairman of Management Board, and Chairman of Executive Board of AXA Private Equity. She joined the AXA Group in 1996 and founded AXA Private Equity, which she has built up at a steady and regular pace. Today, the company manages and advises 28 billion US dollars of assets with a team of 251 employees based in 8 offices around the world.

Dominique Senequier currently serves as a member of Schneider Electric’s supervisory board, and is a non-executive member of the board of Compagnie Industriali Riunite, the Italian conglomerate.

She began her career as Insurance Commissioner, where she worked from 1975 until 1980. She joined GAN in 1980 where she worked until 1996, in reinsurance, international development and private equity.

Dominique Senequier graduated from Ecole Polytechnique in 1972 where she was one of just seven women admitted the first year women were allowed to enroll. She holds a DEA (post-graduate degree) in Banking and Monetary Economics from the Sorbonne University. She is a member of the French Actuarial Institute.
