Nomination Title: Brand Resources Group (BRG); Jane L. Barwis, President and CEO

Tell the story about what the nominated company achieved during the eligibility period (up to 500 words). Focus on specific accomplishments, and relate these accomplishments to past performance or industry norms. Be sure to mention obstacles overcome, innovations or discoveries made, and outcomes:

Unrivaled is one word that any CEO would love to have describe them, and Jane Barwis, President and CEO of Brand Resources Group, is no exception. In April 2004, PR Week dubbed Brand Resources Group (BRG) as an agency “unrivaled in the rankings,” after the company reported revenue growth of 314 percent— a jump
from $550,000 the year before to $2.3 million. PR Week lavished more praise on the company and Barwis by naming it the fastest growing communications agency in the country.

Jane Barwis founded BRG, a communications consultancy based in Vinings, Georgia, in the wake of September 11th, when a large number of American companies were forced to layoff employees or close their doors all together. Jane’s vision of a talent-based company compelled her to leave behind a successful, decade-long career in the international PR agency arena and to start anew with a company made up of some of the best professionals in the industry.

Since BRG’s inception in the November of 2001, Jane has hand-picked an outstanding team of nine full-time employees and a number of part-time consultants who produce and deliver powerful and innovative communications solutions for clients such as Georgia-Pacific, Dixie Foodservice, Home Safety Council (formerly Lowe’s Home Safety Council), NCR and Filene’s Basement.

Under Jane’s leadership, BRG built its business from the ground up with incremental wins from existing clients, to owning individual projects, and eventually to becoming the lead or agency-of-record for organizations. BRG experienced additional growth by successfully expanding relationships into other business divisions within client organizations. This was achieved solely through referrals, extraordinary results and a demonstrable ROI.

All of these successes have not gone unnoticed.  In addition to PR Week’s recognition, Atlanta Business Chronicle ranked BRG as the 10th fastest-growing private company in Georgia as a part of its annual Pacesetter Awards.

BRG attributes its rapid growth to the talent of its employees who are empowered on a daily basis to reach their fullest potential; a climate that encourages mutual respect and demands top performance. Jane also believes that the mission she has set forth for her staff-- to be flexible, functional and deliver on promises, is a major contributor to the company’s fast-paced growth and financial success.
