asthetik skincare takes pride in its approach to sustainability. Started in 2020, the company focuses on providing sustainable, ethically sourced and cruelty-free skincare products at an affordable price point. Since the brand’s inception, asthetik skincare has utilized plant-based ingredients in its formulas, many of which are vegan. All products are made with organic, kosher, biodegradable, fair trade and natural ingredients. Some products utilize beeswax, but this is natural, renewable and sustainably farmed within the United States. asthetik skincare uses as many sustainable and recyclable components as possible in its packaging. Since 2023, all packaging has been made with recyclable PLA plastic – a renewable plastic made from sugarcane or casava that is more sustainable than petroleum-based products. Caps are made from real bamboo, which decomposes naturally and quickly or can be composted. Previously, asthetik skincare utilized glass containers for its product to help eliminate plastic waste.

  4. Outline the organization's or individual's achievements since July 1 2022 that you wish to bring to the judges' attention (up to 250 words):

    Total 129 words used.

In 2023, asthetik skincare introduced its new branding and packaging. The recyclable PLA plastic containers are less environmentally impactful than petroleum-based plastic and can be recycled chemically or mechanically. Made from a biodegradable polymer, PLA is also industrially compostable. In addition, asthetik skincare eliminated excess packaging from its products, opting not to box each component individually – as these components often end up in landfills. The bamboo caps have been part of the packaging design since the company’s inception but play a critical role in the packaging’s sustainability. Bamboo is a self-regenerating resource and requires less energy and water to produce than its alternatives. This results in a lower carbon footprint. In June 2024, asthetik skincare was Leaping Bunny certified for its cruelty-free development and production processes and products.

  5. Explain why the achievements you have highlighted are unique or significant. If possible compare the achievements to the performance of other players in your industry and/or to the organization's or individual's past performance (up to 250 words):

    Total 115 words used.

For a small skincare company, it can be easiest to opt for the most cost-effective packaging and ingredients. But that is not what asthetik skincare is about. Owner and founder Alexis Pfropper takes pride in putting forth the cleanest, most effective formulas that deliver results for her clients while also thinking about the environmental implications of packaging and ingredients. Throughout the brand’s lifespan, every ingredient has been ethically sourced and evaluated for its effectiveness. Every element of the packaging has been meticulously researched and evaluated for its environmental impact. All products are developed, assembled, and packaged in the United States, with the bulk of production and packaging taking place in Alexis’s home state of Florida.
