Kath’s passion for innovation and transforming possibilities created an opportunity for her to be a Kaizen Lead in IBM Quote-to-Cash (Q2C) Organization for APAC & Japan. She has been with IBM for more than 12 years and has performed different roles in the organization. She has been actively involved in continuous improvement programs and initiatives, driving and engaging squads by facilitating agile and design thinking workshops to identify improvement opportunities, leading global strategic tool deployments and operation transformation to accelerate business. Kath appreciates working with cross-functional teams in which she gains new learnings, experiences and understanding of the business.
As a Kaizen Lead, she works closely with the operations team to digitally transform Q2C processes and improve the productivity and efficiency of the organization – from enabling the teams to generate ideas to delivering projects through work sessions and experiential learnings.
Outside of Q2C organization, she is a process expert collaborating with Sales organization and Aligned functions to streamline the end-to-end process that directly impacts and influences delivering value to IBM clients. One perfect example is the deployment of a strategic tool, iERP. Under Kath’s leadership, we are able to transform Enterprise Software Fulfillment and Finance Process with iERP.

Process Automation
In 2022, Kath as ASEAN Market Kaizen, led the completion of multiple process and automation projects resulting in 83,912 hours of productivity savings against 83,000 hours target.
In 2023, Kath as Software Kaizen, delivered a total of 29 automation projects in Software, Services and Business Controls space, equivalent to 41,000 hours productivity savings, contributing 77% to Software target across APAC&JP.
One example of a complex transformation project is IBM Distributed Software Quote Validator, an automation for quote creation and validation, which was initially deployed in ASEAN and scaled to other markets in APAC&JP. This paved the way for successful Process Transformation from Q2C Support to Seller Self-service Model for channel quotes. (Slide2)
Another example is AR Chatbot where we leveraged on watsonx technology to respond to multiple client queries – Account details, software entitlement status, invoice clarifications, to improve the overall client experience. (Slides11–13)
Digital Transformation
Kath was instrumental in the successful deployment of iERP to Enterprise Software business. ESW was the very first business unit to complete the transition in APAC&JP – covering a total of 19 countries, each with their own uniqueness when it comes to the nature of the business, language, legal and tax requirements. Kath led Q2C and closely collaborated with Sales, Techline, Financing, Tax, and Accounting Organization to ensure alignment of requirements and deliverables. Despite the enormity and complexity of the project, it received high commendations from IBM global leadership team for smooth deployment, flawless execution and migration. (Slides5–7)

Leveraging on her previous experience in successful iERP deployments across APAC&JP in ESW business, Kath made a huge impact in guiding Q2C Operations team when Technology Lifecycle Systems and Systems Hardware transitioned to iERP in the same year, anchoring on agile ways of working with a focus on delivering client value iteratively and incrementally. Kath, as one of the Q2C iERP Consultants, provided guidance on how to execute from process deep dives and requirements gathering to end-to-end testing and sign-off. She also managed the cross-brand billing requirements for ESW, TLS and SHW and conducted trainings with Q2C and Aligned Functions to communicate Change Impact that helped to smoothly transition the organization. With her growth mindset, she keeps herself informed of industry trends through learning and encourages higher levels of sharing and contribution to drive organizational outcomes. As technology progresses, our Q2C Operations shifts from rule-based automation to advanced, adaptive intelligence. Kath is part of the team that plays a crucial role in this significant shift and is also part of the winning team of the IBMer watsonx Challenge in 2023 which kickstarted our journey to Generative AI. Kath inspires and influences teams to continuously improve. She is one of the core team and facilitators of IBM Q2C Billing University and creator of ESW Learning Module. She also co-created the organization’s leadership readiness program and designed one of the modules, Leading Innovation. (Slides2&19)
