Genius Wong is the Executive Vice President of Tata Communications’ Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services and the Chief Technology Officer. Genius has helped build Tata Communications global core and subsea network infrastructure and services. Besides leading Product and Engineering functions for Core and Next-Gen Connectivity Services, she also heads Service Assurance and Network & Service Operations for Tata Communications. She has over 25 years of experience working in digital technologies, cloud, and telecommunications, with leadership roles in product development and management, business development, engineering, and service assurance. Genius has led strategic cable investments and global network partnerships across countries for all networking solutions. Prior to joining Tata Communications, Genius held leadership roles at Asia Netcom, New T&T and IBM IGN. Genius holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Washington in the United States.

As a part of her role, Genius is working to define the future of network and is building the portfolio and capabilities that help our Enterprise customers create in network modernisation. As a part of this transformation, she has built, launched, and grown new capabilities that make core network programmable, composable and on-demand. This includes:
1. A predictable internet WAN solution, which was the first of its kind in the market
2. A software defined cloud interconnection platform which makes it cloud connectivity easier and more cost-effective.
3. W-LAN transformation solutions that enable a batter user experience and efficiencies and
The Core and Next-Gen Connectivity portfolio that Genius manages drives more than 50% revenue for the company. She has grown the Core Connectivity by 12% and Next-Gen Connectivity by 68% over the two-year period of FY 2022 to FY 2024.
Genius also manages service assurance and network operations, and she has built a very strong delivery and AI-assisted assurance capability which has led to an NPS score of over 80 which is the best in the industry. She has also participated in the several strategy review meetings of our large enterprise customers, co-creating future visions and network strategy to support their businesses.
Under her leadership, the portfolio has gained extensive external credibility including Tata Communications being recognised as a Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Network Services, Global for eleven consecutive years.
