| ABA and IBA Final Entry Deadlines This Month
The final entry deadline for The 2004 International Business Awards is Friday, January 16. All companies in countries around the world are eligible to participate, but American companies must generate at least 10% of their sales outside the U.S. to be eligible.
The final entry deadline for The 2004 American Business Awards is Friday, January 23. All American companies are eligible to participate, as are the U.S.-based operations of foreign companies.
The International Business Awards will be presented on Monday, March 22. The American Business Awards will be announced on Wednesday, May 12. Both will take place at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers in New York City, and both will be broadcast live on radio in the U.S., and around the world via the Internet, by the BusinessTalk Radio Network.

How Many Business Awards Have You Won in Your Career?
That's the Stevie Awards survey question for January. Follow the link below to respond.
Here are the results of the December survey, which asked, "Does Your Company Have a Formal Employee Recognition/Awards Program?" Only 50% of respondents said yes, while 46.2% said no and 3.8% said they didn't know.
Those figures contrast with a 2002 survey conducted by WorldAtWork, a non-profit organization, which said that 85% of respondents' companies had employee recognition programs in place, but only 22% of them had implemented them within the past year.

SMT to Sponsor Best Sales Trainer Category in 2004 American Business Awards
The Professional Society for Sales & Marketing Training (SMT), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating business results for its members and their companies by improving sales performance, will sponsor the new Best Sales Trainer category in The 2004 American Business Awards. As a result, SMT members are able to submit entries to the Best Sales Trainer category free of charge, saving the $200 entry fee.
Under the terms of the three-year agreement, SMT will present all awards (Stevie Award trophies and Certificates of Finalist Recognition) in the Best Sales Trainer category. In addition, an SMT representative will join the Awards' Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors.
SMT's members include Dial Corporation, Dow Chemical, Eastman Kodak Company, Kendall Tyco Healthcare, Motorola Inc., Office Depot, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Procter & Gamble, and Time Warner, among others.
