New York, NY – January 13, 2004 - The Professional Society for Sales & Marketing Training (SMT), a non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating business results for its members and their companies by improving sales performance, will sponsor the new Best Sales Trainer category in The 2004 American Business AwardsSM.  As a result, SMT members are able to submit entries to the Best Sales Trainer category free of charge, saving the $200 entry fee.

The American Business Awards are the only national, independent business awards program honoring great performances in the workplace.

Nicknamed the SteviesTM for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards, designed by the same company that makes the Clio and Emmy, will be presented at a gala, nationally broadcast ceremony in New York City on May 10, 2004.

Nomination forms for The Second Annual American Business Awards can be downloaded at www.stevieawards.com/aba.  The deadline for nominations is January 23, 2004, but the deadline is extended for SMT members to February 27.

Under the terms of the three-year agreement, SMT will present all awards (StevieTM Award trophies and Certificates of Finalist Recognition) in the Best Sales Trainer category.  In addition, an SMT representative will join the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors.  Other members of the Board include business luminaries such as Donald Trump, chairman, president and CEO of The Trump Organization, Bruce Nelson, chairman & CEO of Office Depot, and marketing gurus Don Peppers and Martha Rogers.  For a full list of board members, please visit: http://www.stevieawards.com/pubs/general/72_221_974.CFM.
