Alan Sienes, Brewmaster and Technical Manpower Development Manager

Alan Sienes has 33 years of leadership experience in brewing technology and manufacturing/operations management. He has attended trainings, conferences and seminars in Brewing Science and Technology at the University of California, Davis, USA; World Brewing Conference in Orlando, Florida, USA; Interbrau and the Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany; the Asian Brewing Conference in Manila; and, of course, the San Miguel School of Brewing.
In his early years, his project, “Adopt-an-Island,” was awarded the Most Outstanding Public Health Project in Mindanao by the Philippine Jaycees. At the time, he was involved in volunteer environment advocacy work, which gained national attention. He has served as Leadership Development Commissioner and as Training Director of the Iligan Jaycees Inc. He has also served as President of the Philippine Institute of Chemical Engineers, Iligan Bay Chapter. Some time ago he was involved in the creation of San Miguel Corporation-Bacolod Toastmasters International, where he became its Charter President and later gained the Competent Toastmaster (CTM) level. He has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration-Middle Manager Program obtained from the Ateneo Graduate School of Business, with Gold Medal honors, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Philippines.
Alan mentors and coaches young people to become better people and leaders. He appeared in CNN Philippines’ branded-content program “Celebrating Oktoberfest” in 2018. He has worked in various capacities as Brewing Technical Staff in the Corporate Office, Brewing Manager of several plants, Brewing Consultant in International breweries, Research & Development Manager, Operations Technology Brewmaster, Technical Manpower Development Manager, and is also currently Dean of the San Miguel School of Brewing. He is the San Miguel Brewery Inc. representative of Chemical Engineering to the Professional Regulation Commission – Continuing Professional Development of the Philippines. He believes that to be effective one must develop and maintain good habits in order to achieve consistency of performance. Beyond corporate life he likes to watch TV and film shows, write weekly articles on innovation & leadership, draw and sketch, try new food, read books on leadership and business, speak at seminars, and travel with his family. He is happily married to Alma and has two beautiful children, Alfonso Miguel and Alexa Christina, who is a licensed Physician in the Philippines and in the United Kingdom.
