On February 6, Türkiye experienced one of the most deadly disasters of its history. In the early hours of the day, a huge eartquake occurred, it was followed by another one which is as large as the first. It caused more than 50.000 people to die, and so many others to get injured. Thousands of buildings collapsed, and people who survived started to live in tent cities. Right after that, aid campaigns were started to improve the living conditions of people.

Like most of the other companies, we immediately started to collect aids, but we had something better to use in the current situation; The Future Talents Program. As its name shows, it was created in 2022 for the young talents of the country who are aged between 6 to 18. It mainly aims to support engineering-based development of young talents, to increase their interest in aerospace and to give them the opportunity to get closely acquainted with our company at an early age.

Most engaging and interactive activities of the program were offered to children living in the earthquake areas so that we could take their attention and increase their moral with activities full of development and motivation.

We are aware of that especially children, who are exposed to that damage may suffer longer-term psychological, and educational problems. As we build the future of Turkey’s aerospace, we take a responsibility for moving the country's future forward by investing in children and the youth in every place andevery circumstantes

  5. If you are providing written answers to the questions for this category, you must answer this third question: Describe the development of the campaign or program: the planning process, the goal setting, the creative and media development, the scheduling, etc. (up to 250 words):

The Future Talents Program was carefully designed by pedagogues and engineers, and it has 3 different modules based on age, interest and the comprehension skills of children who are primary, secondary and high school students.

For children living in the earthquake zone, we offered two modules of the program which are; HÜRKUŞ 6-10 (primary school students) and HEZARFEN 11-14 (secondary school students).

Since the beginning of the program, our musical which is a part of HÜRKUŞ 6-10 module introduced our unique aircrafts HÜRKUŞ and GÖKBEY as mascots to more than 75,000 children in 54cities/districts, and in the earthquake region, it has exhibited them to thousands of primary school students with a special tour program at more than 30 tent city locations. Before the tour, we have changed the way how we implemented the musical due to the conditions of the region. For instance, as we would not have a stage in a building, we built a portable mobile stage that enables us to move city to city and present the musical with all technical possibilities.

Our STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) focused development workshops which are offered in both modules aim to improve the engineering skills of primary and secondary school children with practical activities. They were also provided to the earthquake victim children in order to make them feel better with activities full of development and motivation. For instance, in one activity they developed aircraft models that have a basic electrical system with the help of teachers.

  6. If you are providing written answers to the questions for this category, you must answer this fourth question: Outline the activities and concrete results of this campaign or program since the beginning of 2019. Even if your initiative started before 2021, limit your response to activities and results since the beginning of 2021 only (up to 250 words):

    Total 243 words used.

The Future Talents Program extends the social volume, social diversity and creates an organically grown network. We can proudly say that the project has already left an indelible mark on people’s hearts and minds. All activities in the program are accessible, free, and inclusive of all segments of society, from small villages placed in the far east of Turkey to cosmopolitan cities.

We offered the Program to children staying in the tent cities as part of our sense on social responsibility.

Our musical theatre that we used our aircrafts HÜRKUŞ and GÖKBEY as mascots to put aerospace in the imagination of children to tour in the earthquake region, performed 30+ shows in 11 provinces with the participation of 25,000+ children.

    • Our musical also performed for hundreds of children in dormitories at which earthquake victims are staying in Ankara, Turkey.
    • With Development Workshops that aim to increase the motivation of children with full of development activities, we reached 1,000+ children across the tent cities.

As Turkish Aerospace, we are devoted to our mission to build the future of the country’s aerospace, and investing in our children is a part of that goal. We strongly feel a responsibility towards our children because they are the ones who will shape our future.

That is why we were there to make a difference in the lives of the children and The Future Talent Program was our most ideal property to effectively act during that crisis.

  7. You have the option to reference here any attachments of supporting materials throughout this nomination and how they provide evidence of the claims you have made in this nomination (up to 250 words):

With our activities in the earthquake region, we took children’s attention and ensured that aerospace and aircrafts are included in their dreams.

The Future Talents Program normally receives registration through Turkish Aerospace’s career website, kariyer.tusas.com/geleceginyetenekleri. We also have the @tusaskariyer Instagram account, which serves the program's details. However, the current implementation didn’t take any registration. So, children joined to the activities without making application.

The supporting materials will provide evidence for the musical and workshops. You will see how the activities were conducted, and what kind of outcomes were achieved, and what kind of reactions are taken from children via photos/videos added to the link.
