3RD ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AWARDS ANNOUNCES
BEST GLOBAL COMPANIES OF THE YEAR
Only Global Business Awards Program
To Honor World’s Best Businesses and Individuals at New York Ceremony
New York, NY – May 23, 2006 – Companies and individuals from 22 countries, including first-time winners Austria, Finland, Ireland, Kuwait, and the Ukraine, will be honored at the third annual International Business Awards, the world’s only international, all-encompassing business awards program, organizers announced today.
Canada boasts 12 International Stevie® Award winners, including PlateSpin Ltd. of Toronto for Best Overall Company and The Descartes Systems Group of Waterloo, Ontario for Best Business Turnaround. The United Kingdom and Korea won nine International Stevies each. Other multiple award winners include Germany (5), Malaysia (3), China (2), India (2), and Sweden (2).
Nicknamed the Stevie for the Greek word “crowned,” the awards will be presented at a gala dinner ceremony on Monday, June 26 in the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Tickets for the banquet are now on sale at www.stevieawards.com/iba.
The ceremonies will be videocast live online by HB Group and broadcast on radio in the United States by the BusinessTalk Radio. For the second year, Tanya Beckett, New York-based business presenter for the BBC, will host the ceremony.
82 International Stevie Award winners were announced in categories ranging from Best Multinational Company and Best New Product to Best Corporate Social Responsibility Program and Best Executive. Other countries represented in the winners’ circle include Australia, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, Indonesia, Nigeria, Portugal, Thailand, and the United States.

Members of the Stevie Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected the winners during final judging earlier this month, which was preceded by two months of preliminary judging by business professionals worldwide. More than 700 entries were submitted by companies in over 30 countries. All companies worldwide are eligible to participate in the International Business Awards.
“The growth in entries this year, particularly from countries such as Korea and Malaysia, is due to our growing network of marketing representatives around the world,” said Michael Gallagher, founder and president of The Stevie Awards, the organization that runs The International Business Awards. “As more companies experience the benefits of participating and as our representatives spread the word around the globe, the International Business Awards will make an even great impact on the global business community.”
