Imagine you’re on your very first military mission overseas, where tension fills the air as the possibility of danger looms at every moment. Suddenly, the sound of gunfire fills the air as insurgents launch an unexpected attack, leaving you wounded, with your leg bleeding profusely.
The medic is helping others, but fortunately, your fellow Soldier underwent medical training at the Army’s Medical Simulation Training Centers (MSTCs) before his first deployment. Despite the disorienting chaos and urgency of the moment, he jumps into action, drawing upon the experiences simulated (sights, smells, sounds) at the MSTCs. In that moment, his ability to apply what he learned in a real-life, high-stakes scenario makes all the difference in your survival.
Drawing upon the simulated sights, smells, and sounds, he uses muscle memory to apply life-saving techniques in the chaos. In that moment, his ability to apply what he learned in a real-life, high-stakes scenario makes all the difference in your survival.
Who We Are
Today MicroHealth’s Medical Simulation team provides services ranging from technical refreshes or full installs at the MSTCs, developing prototypes for Special Forces, and using its software developers and engineers to design integrated solutions to meet emerging needs. The team is also comprised of hardware and system engineers, logisticians, techies, and program managers, many of whom are Veterans, retirees, or come from healthcare backgrounds.
Through our cutting-edge medical simulation technology, we have facilitated realistic and immersive training experiences for military personnel, allowing them to hone their skills and decision-making abilities in a safe and controlled environment.
We take great pride in our ability to blend cutting-edge technology with battle-tested insights, ultimately empowering military personnel to train and prepare for medical challenges with the utmost confidence and readiness.
What We Do
Medical simulation is particularly critical in preparing military medical personnel for the unique and challenging battlefield scenarios they may encounter. We are proud to have played a significant role in enhancing the preparedness and effectiveness of military medical personnel through our unwavering dedication to excellence in medical simulation support.
As a Veteran-owned, service-disabled, SBA 8(a) small business, MicroHealth understands the importance of preparing military personnel to handle complex medical scenarios in high-stakes environments, and our solutions are designed with this in mind. Specifically, MicroHealth:
- Helps the U.S. Army 25 MSTC’s perform a technology refresh of their integrated system of systems. MSTCs provide realistic medical training to Active, Reserve, and National Guard soldiers. Each site trains 2,500+ medical and non-medical soldiers using direct instruction and live simulation on the latest battle-field trauma and critical care techniques in a simulated high-stress environment. The refresh allows more efficient operation of each system to support training and validation of annual training, Combat Life Saver, Basic Life Support, Tactical Combat Causality Care, and Combat Medical Advanced Skills Training. The MSTCs provide an invaluable opportunity for trainees to practice life-saving procedures, refine their teamwork, and enhance their overall readiness for real-world medical challenges.
- Worked with the Army to develop a prototype that enhances medical training specific to Special Operation Forces, which have the unique requirement to perform prolonged field care for up to 72-hours which current MSTCs do not offer. MicroHealth designed and developed a command-and-control software suite to integrate medical training scenarios into the training environment. This allows instructors/operators to control environmental stressors such as strobe, sounds, scents, etc.
- Developed a portable alternative with its Medical Simulation Training Mobile solution. The solution targets potential clients who are looking for a quick, scalable, and cost-effective solution that is portable. This empowers clients to overcome the limitations of fixed facilities and deliver an immersive training experience that aligns with the evolving needs of modern simulation training. The system is adaptable for multiple use cases, including military, police, fire/rescue, and disaster.
Our team of technologists brings their background of service, development, and integration to custom build and field technology solutions that meet the emerging needs of warfighters.
- In bullet-list form (up to 150 words), provide a brief summary of up to ten (10) of the nominee's chief achievements since 1 January 2022:
