Diane Wang founded DHgate.com in 2004. Since January 1, 2022, Diane Wang has exemplified leadership and innovation as the founder, chairperson, and CEO of DHGATE Group. Under her visionary guidance, the Group has solidified its position as one of the world’s largest cross-border B2B e-commerce marketplaces, championing fair world trade, diversity, and creativity by connecting MSMEs globally with high-quality products.
Diane's strategic focus is to accelerate digital transformation for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as well as empower underserved communities such as women and young people, who traditionally have less access to entrepreneurial opportunities. As of December 31, 2023, DHgate serves over 77 million buyers and 2.6 million sellers across 225 countries and regions.
In late 2020, Diane launched MyyShop, a pioneering social commerce platform that lowers the barriers for content creators, influencers and aspiring entrepreneurs to jumpstart their foray into e-commerce and effortlessly monetize their influence on social platforms by providing digital tools to quickly grow their social commerce businesses.
As an early e-commerce entrepreneur in China, Diane has continuously pushed the boundaries of digital commerce, establishing herself as a prominent and influential figure in the global digital economy. Since 2023, Diane has been a valuable member of the WTO Director-General Business Advisory Group, where she has actively promoted digital commerce in global trade. In this role, she has shared her insights on digitized global trade with WTO Director-General Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and advised on global trade, e-commerce, MSMEs, and women's empowerment initiatives. Diane’s participation and speeches at key events, including the WTO's 13th ministerial conference (MC13) in Abu Dhabi in 2024, highlighted the importance of a more inclusive and sustainable global economy in re-globalizing trade. As the sole representative from China among the current 10 members of the Business Advisory Group, Diane draws from over 30 years of experience in cross-border e-commerce to impart her perspectives on international trade practices.
Over the past decade, Diane has been a trailblazer for women's empowerment and dedicates a large proportion of her time and energy to collaborating with international organizations that push for women’s digital inclusion and business leadership at startups and MSMEs. She collaborates with several international organizations and holds roles as the Founder of international women's entrepreneurship community APEC Women Connect (AWC), Chair of the APEC Women Leadership Summit, Chair of 50 Cross-border E-Commerce Leaders in China, a member of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and a Chinese National Chapter member of the BRICS Women's Business Alliance.
Started in 2014, the APEC Cross-Border E-commerce Training program (APEC CBET) accelerates cooperation between experienced economies and those with less experience, which then empowers local MSMEs to go global through digital platforms such as cross-border e-commerce. Under Diane’s guidance, DHGATE Group has trained hundreds of thousands of MSMEs, female entrepreneurs and policymakers in more than 50 economies under the program.
In addition, Diane launched the APEC Women Connect initiative in 2016 to empower women through inspirational sharing, practical learning, effective recognition and awarding. Over the past 7 years, the program, which has been recognized and endorsed by the leaders of the UN, APEC and G20 countries, has trained over 100,000 women MSMEs and cultivated over 5,000 women entrepreneurs.The APEC Women Connect Her Power Entrepreneurship Competition has become a hallmark event, drawing over 2,200 female entrepreneurs to share their social commerce experiences.
In October 2023, Diane founded The Inner Mountain Foundation, a global community empowering women to stand up, speak out and make a difference. With a mission to build up and empower communities for women, The Inner Mountain Foundation provides access to various entrepreneurial resources, training, information and funding for women-owned businesses.
