Company: UNICEF Thailand, Bangkok, Bangkok Company Description: UNICEF Thailand works to improve the lives of all children in Thailand and beyond. When we began our work in 1948, we focused on children’s health, nutrition and sanitation by fighting life-threatening diseases and providing clean drinking water, safe sanitation, corn-soy milk and iodized salt. Now, UNICEF supports the design and implementation of laws and policies for child rights and well-being. In 2023, UNICEF celebrated 75 years in Thailand, a period of astonishing progress marked by a tourism-fuelled economic miracle and millions of children’s lives improved. In 1948, 20% of children died before five and most left school before grade 4. By 2023 almost all children survived and completed high school, major national achievements supported by UNICEF.
2023 was also a pivotal moment for UNICEF. By 1996, economic progress meant UNICEF Thailand no longer received overseas funding and in-country fundraising began. By 2010, this was so successful that UNICEF Thailand was donating to other countries. But COVID’s devastating national impact meant UNICEF needed to shift fundraising towards high-worth individuals.
A gala was launched with a hardcover history book as a centrepiece, designed to inspire the VIP audience in what had been achieved, and how much more could be done together. It featured decade-by-decade histories of Thailand’s UNICEF-supported progress, real-life case studies of Thais who’d been children during each decade, key achievements, infographics and more, accompanied by beautiful archive photography.
The book was sold at the gala, raising funds, and gifted to influencers, decision-makers, and donors. Feedback was highly positive and the book contributed to UNICEF’s most successful fundraising gala in Asia.
