Since 1957, Safaniya Offshore Producing Department is the operator of the world’s largest offshore oil field. It operates 3 producing fields; Safaniya, Zuluf and Marjan; which have a combined oil production capacity of 2.7 Million barrels of oil per day, in a safe, environmentally responsible and cost-effective manner. The fields are located offshore northeast of Saudi Arabia in the Arabian Gulf, spanning approximately 4000 sq. km. The fields produce Arab Heavy and Arab Medium crude oil. The offshore facilities include unmanned well platforms and manned Gas Oil Separation Plants (GOSPs), which are transported to downstream processing facilities at onshore via a network of subsea pipelines. The organization comprises of 6 Divisions with a total headcount of about 1000 employees. Despite the unique, challenging and complex offshore work environment, SOfPD’s has sustained a top-tier HSE performance over the years, and has been recognized by renowned local and international awards.
