The British Business Bank is a UK government-backed business development bank. It is dedicated to making finance markets work better for smaller businesses. The 2022 Annual Report and Accounts uses the Bank’s brand identity to underpin this year’s theme ‘Supporting sustainable recovery across the UK’.The report incorporates pull-quotes, infographics, and key statistics, alongside funding and case study maps that provide regional context.
One of the main priorities in designing the report was ensuring accessibility for a non-expert audience. Following WCAG AA 2.1 guidance and tagging for screen readers, the 2022 report is also the British Business Bank’s most accessible to date for blind and partially sighted people. We art directed photoshoots in addition to the research and curation of images to demonstrate an awareness of the Bank’s diverse SME audience and enhance the Bank’s reputation.
By effectively combining visual elements, key information, and regional context, the 2022 Annual Report and Accounts serves as a comprehensive overview of the bank’s activities in supporting sustainable recovery across the UK. Through its commitment to accessibility and its thoughtful use of imagery, the report successfully communicates complex information to a wide range of stakeholders, including both experts and non-experts in the field.
